Every day you will adhere to strict federal coding rules and guidelines in selecting codes that appropriately reflect the services that were provided. You will balance the need for 95% coding accuracy against timely account completion for billing deadlines. To thrive in this role, you must possess a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of medical coding standards and guidelines, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.Here’s what you will experience working as a Coding Specialist:
Knowledgeably applies ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS to cardiovascular lab and interventional radiology surgeries performed for the sites that are covered by the department.Coding of surgical procedures performed by cardiologists and interventional radiologists.Verification of supplies used during procedures.Use of encoders and other references.Ability to abstract services from physician documentation and procedure logs.Reconciliation of monthly surgical logs.Managing multiple job tasks daily (WQs, emails, surgical logs, census, etc.).Attend meetings and training sessions.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills:
Proficient knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS assignments.Proficient knowledge of CPT coding guidelines.Proficient knowledge of Modifier assignments.Medical terminology.Anatomy and physiology.Ability to maintain high productivity and accuracy.Effective communication skills both verbal and written.Interpersonal skills.Organizational skills.Computer skills-abstracting and encoders, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Epic.Proficient computer skills including 10 key by touch.Licenses and Certifications - Required
AAPC - CPC or CIRCC or CCC or CCVTC.ORAHIMA - CCS.For this US-based position, the base pay range is $15.66 - $23.45 per hour.
