The Senior Legal Counsel will work with the business and legal functions of a global industrial manufacturer with over 5,500 employees. The position reports to the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, and the duties include leading the company’s compliance program and assisting with privacy and other regulatory and legal matters. Good business judgment and creativity are essential, and this role includes counseling, training, reporting, change management efforts, research, and policy drafting. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide advice regarding legal compliance and risk management, including the assessment of legal risks relating to operations and strategic decisions. The successful candidate will be assigned other duties based on the individual’s experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Chair and manage a cross-functional committee/team devoted to safeguarding and promoting the Company’s key value of Integrity and its Code of Conduct. Lead, manage, enhance, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of the Company’s ethics and legal compliance program, policies, processes, controls, training, assessments, updates, investigations, and reporting activities.
Co-lead the data privacy program to monitor, assess, and adjust the Company’s data privacy program and practices.
Proactively monitor developments in, advise on, and collaborate with other counsel and functions on other regulatory matters, including customs and international trade control, environmental, and product content matters and regulations.
Work proactively with other counsel and other functions to develop and manage implementation of strategies to reduce risks relating to compliance and regulatory issues.
Educate, train, and address questions and concerns of associates regarding compliance and regulatory matters.
Collaborate with other counsel and other functions to assist with third party/distributor policies and training, including competition law and anti-corruption training and processes.
Assist with due diligence and determination of risks in acquisitions.
Support and participate in legal initiatives and projects.
The ability to assist in dispute resolution and litigation management is helpful.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: J.D. from an accredited law school and active and admitted to the bar in the State of Ohio.
Experience: Minimum of five to twelve years’ legal and compliance experience in a combination of law firm and corporate in-house environments. Experience with compliance matters and counseling on regulatory matters required. In-house experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge: Experience and advanced understanding of compliance programs and regulatory matters. Excellent drafting, writing, and communication skills. Works collaboratively with other lawyers, all internal functions and clients, and external counsel. Effectively manages compliance and legal matters. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with non-legal business teams, and with associates at all levels of an organization, is crucial. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple, complex matters successfully with a minimum level of supervision. Strong reputation for integrity and ability to balance business interests with the need to exercise independent judgment. The ability to raise (and escalate, if necessary) potentially sensitive or contentious issues. Broad business knowledge, high energy, and enthusiasm with sound judgment. The areas of relevant legal experience that will be considered include compliance, privacy, customs/international trade controls, environmental, litigation, competition laws, and general regulatory matters.

Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.
Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
