County Counsel Paralegals
who provide assistance to civil attorneys in the preparation of legal documents, responses to Public Records Act requests, discovery requests, research, analysis, and hearing and trial preparation.LOAN FORGIVENESSSan Bernardino County Counsel employees may be eligible for student loan forgiveness through the
Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTBackground:
Applicants must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, prior to appointment.Travel:
Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained.Sponsorship:
Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSApplicants must meet one of the following options:Option 1:
A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association.Option 2:
A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a post-secondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter), or equivalent, units in law-related courses that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau of Private Post-secondary and Vocational Education.Option 3:
A baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject, a minimum of one (1) year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three (3) years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three (3) years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating the applicant is qualified to perform legal tasks.For more details, please review the announcement at www.sbcounty.gov/jobs.
