Location: New York, New YorkCountry: United StatesRegion: NY MetroPosition Type: PermanentCategory: Home Fashion, TextilesJob Function: Sourcing / Vendor ComplianceSalary: $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 Per YearLevel: Mid to Senior Level (Management), ExecutiveOur client, an established retailer, is seeking an experienced person with skills and contacts in the home décor global sourcing sector. The VP or Director of Sourcing will be responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvements while managing sourcing and operational projects. This role involves collaborating with merchants/buyers, overseas offices, agents, and direct vendors to share product expertise. The ideal candidate will have established factory and agent relationships to expand the vendor base and improve product quality. Responsibilities include:Demonstrate detailed end-to-end product lifecycle process experience and advise buyers on key topics including technical manufacturing details, cost components, product construction, and calendar/lead times.Review and assess processes and make recommendations to enhance.Work with cross-functional teams to implement end-to-end processes, including leveraging new and existing systems or tools to enable effective decision making and drive compliance.Drive continual development and refine workflow, processes, and tools in partnership with SVP.Drive Home Sourcing Strategy (including agent, vendor, COO, and cost strategies) to meet business needs, leverage market conditions, and mitigate risks.Monitor and track best/worst sellers; offer up new opportunities and, as necessary, make changes to what is in the pipeline.Be accustomed to working with Agents/Owned Offices/Direct Factories.Employ global experience and deep country capability knowledge.Translate Merchant Strategy into actionable sourcing recommendations; deliver sourcing strategies.Demonstrate aspirational taste level with a discerning eye for detail (including packaging).Provide established vendor contacts across home and hardgoods factories.Draw upon knowledge of cost engineering, duty engineering, and all other aspects of product costing.Understand quality practices and product regulatory requirements.Assess product inspection reports and make corrective action recommendations.Collaborate with Product Technical Services team on vendor technical capabilities.Qualifications:8-10+ years previous experience in Home Sourcing.Required to travel internationally ~30% of the time.Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.Experience using continuous improvement principles to improve operating results.Aptitude for data gathering and analysis.Ability to identify critical success factors and simplify complex problems.Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to large groups.Can communicate/translate requirements easily and effectively between internal and external teams.Understanding of merchandising practices.Strong MS Office and Excel skills, with advanced understanding of Excel to guide the development of templates, including understanding logic of advanced Excel formulas, evaluating user design, organizing, and presenting data in Excel.
