Position SummaryTCW is investing in multi-year technology and data initiatives, and the Data Governance Manager will play a key role in the success of the firm’s data strategies. In this role, the incumbent will be working within the Data Engineering Group to define and implement a data governance program with a focus on maturing the business glossary, tracking data stewardship, metadata profiling, and data quality rule development. The goal will be to mature our governance and data quality platform to enable the business to have greater access to trusted data. The role is responsible for working directly with subject matter experts in both the business and IT to map data definitions and consumption throughout the organization and populate and maintain the firm’s data documentation. We are seeking a detail-oriented person with experience documenting the full data lifecycle in large enterprise settings.Essential DutiesMature and manage an enterprise-wide data governance program while promoting a data governance culture throughout the organization.Establish relationships across the organization to identify and track ownership of core data sets to help manage data as an asset and minimize data risk. Identify and define data domains and elements including both business and technical definitions.Curate data quality requirements and ensure data quality rules are implemented accurately in our Data Governance platform.Create, manage, and maintain documentation for data glossaries, ingestion points, data lineage, data policies, and trusted source assessments.Ensure data assets are searchable and understandable to end users; serve as a knowledge expert for the firm’s data while ensuring that data is “fit-for-purpose”.Work with development teams to provide technical documentation around data and ensure consistent application of our enterprise-wide data requirements.Work with security, legal, and regulatory teams to support data security/access/privacy requirements for new projects; assist with policies, procedures, and standards for information management throughout its lifecycle.Work with lines of business to identify and solve data integrity and quality issues, recommend data quality improvements, and establish metrics/dashboards for tracking performance of critical data elements.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/Mathematics/Computer Science.5+ years of experience with administration, implementation, and support of data governance frameworks including a strong background in cataloging/lineage and documentation tools.Experience in a financial services environment.Must possess a solid understanding of database and data concepts, tools, and technologies.Experience with Metadata Management and Data Quality management solutions.Professional Skills QualificationsMethodical, concise, and accurate, with a strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated ability to successfully complete multiple tasks.Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mind-set and ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical staff.A self-starter and team player with an ability to manage complex challenges.Desired QualificationsExperience with enterprise data management solutions such as Ataccama.Experience in asset management and trading environments.
