We use a dynamic programming model to maximize the net present value of inventory driving actions such as pricing markdowns, deals, removals, coupons, etc.Our team, the OIH Insights Team, energizes and empowers OIH business with the clarity and conviction required to make impactful business decisions through the generation of actionable and explainable insights. We do so through the following mechanisms:
Transforming raw, complex datasets into intuitive, actionable insights that impact OIH strategy and accelerate business decision making.Building and maintaining modular, scalable data models that provide the generality, flexibility, intuitiveness, and responsiveness required for seamless self-service insights.Generating deeper insights that drive competitive advantage using statistical modeling and machine learning.We are looking for experienced, self-driven, and strategic Business Intelligence Engineers with superior analytical skills. This position is critical in coming up with creative strategies, helping us build scalable BI solutions, learning more from data to delight our customers and Selling Partners with data-driven insights, and starting the new chapter of end-to-end Insights generation in the data-driven decision-making culture of OIH. You will be part of the Science and Analytics team that has research scientists, data scientists, business intelligence engineers, and data engineers.You can contribute to each layer of the data solution – you will work closely with data engineers to implement data pipelines for scalable BI solutions, team up with research/data scientists and product managers to productionize self-service Insights generation, dive deep into our data, and have a strong bias for action to generate insights, review with business leaders and stakeholders, and drive business actions. As a Business Intelligence Engineer in OIH, you will see how the BI solution and intuitive Insights impact our customers and improve Amazon’s Long Term Free Cash Flow.Key Job Responsibilities
Translating the business requirements to structured BI solutions.Designing and implementing BI technical solutions with the appropriate analytics strategy and data set design.Implementing data pipelines for Insights generation.Translating raw data into meaningful insights through collaboration with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers.Structuring large scale, complex analysis and performing the analysis to generate insights.Driving business actions through Insights to accelerate the business and technical evolution.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.Experience writing complex SQL queries.Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab.Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.Experience in data mining, ETL, etc., and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
