There is a rotating schedule for full time officers. While the museum is closed for renovations security officers may work the opening shift in the morning, currently 7:00am to 3:00pm or a closing shift from 9:45am to 5:45pm Monday through Friday. Once we reopen next year the rotation will still be in place but hours will change and will include weekends.

Position Focus:
Under the supervision of the Head of Security, the Lead Security Officer will provide necessary administrative leadership for the Yale Center for British Art (YCBA) Security staff, the collections housed within and the Center’s occupants. This position will instruct and coordinate the daily schedule and activities of full-time and part-time security officers, as well as approximately 30 contract security guards. This position is a 24-hour emergency responder and will lead the department in the absence of the Head of Security.
This position will have a variable five-day schedule. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor (with employee input) and may be modified from time to time to meet the changing needs of the YCBA. In addition, evening and weekend hours are sometimes required.
Essential Duties:
Oversee, instruct and coordinate the activities of Security Officers and Central Station Operators.
Conduct daily roll calls, uniform inspections, and departmental training (initial and recurring).
Distribute uniforms, radios, and other equipment. Maintain individual records to ensure accountability.
Responsible for ensuring Security Officers and Central Station Operators are fully qualified.
Offer guidance and support to subordinates for improving work performance. Provide formal counseling as required. Recommend formal discipline as required.
Organize and monitor assignments of Security Officers and Central Station Operators. Ensure current and upcoming shifts are properly staffed.
Conduct daily post inspections. Act to resolve any discrepancies uncovered.
Accomplish daily equipment inspections (including vehicles, radios, telephones, etc), and act to resolve any problems uncovered.
Maintain adequate post/station supplies.
Perform the duties of other Security Department employees as required (escorts, lock-outs, patrols, answering calls).
Enforce the University’s security rules and regulations, and protect persons and property on campus.
Remain consistently alert for threats to persons and property.
Maintain a security watch and safeguard areas by viewing and operating central security surveillance systems.
Receive telephone and radio communications. Dispatch Security Guards, escort vehicles and others as required.
Issue and control keys, vehicles, and other equipment.
Perform additional functions incidental to security activities.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and two years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Prior experience with Security, Fire, and CCTV monitoring systems. 3 years of supervisory experience. Computer literacy, and superior telephone, radio, and interpersonal skills. Prior experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to maintain composure under stress. Excellent public relations and communication skills. Must exhibit mature, responsible decision-making, problem solving, and judgment skills.

May be required to work during scheduled off hours.

Hear and respond to auditory stimuli in crowded, busy environment with or without earpiece.
