We have an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Software Engineer to join our team with the Engineering Division.

The DevOps Software Engineer will:

Work with the Management to develop an effective DevOps Strategy for use across JETS.

Provide technical and analytical guidance to project teams.

Effectively communicate with internal and external customers and be customer-focused.

Oversee the Operation and maintenance of lab environments hardware and software in various labs across JSC.

Maintain lab environments hardware and software and DevOps pipelines in various labs across JSC as needed.

Implement Gitlab CI and Jenkins pipeline jobs to support automated regression tests.

Learn TTTech tool use on Windows and Linux.

Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts used for flight software testing.

Help implement the use of Gitlab Personal Access Tokens for DevOps reporting into JIRA.

Perform rapid troubleshooting in resolving lab and computer system issues.

Create and maintain documentation of lab resources and lab management practices.

Identify and cross-pollinate best practices and lessons learned across labs.

Plan and lead regular Lab Operations and DevOps Team Meetings.

Conduct a weekly tag-up with management to report status.

Update and present documentation to management.

Provide surge support as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisition Qualifications:

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.

Ability to get highest level of confidence (LOC) for System Administration.

Experience crafting technology solutions that solve business problems.

Experience in managing multiple technical projects.

Practical knowledge of scripting in different languages including Python or Bash.

Proficient knowledge of DevOps within an agile / scrum environment.

Demonstrate problem-solving background with accompanying troubleshooting skills.

Experience with cloud platforms.

Experience using PPM tools, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Microsoft O365 Suite.

Linux/Unix system administration, communication, user authentication and storage design, development and maintenance.

Demonstrate ability to document configurations, resources and maintain burndown lists.

Demonstrate effective communication with customers and other team members, both written and orally.

Able to quickly adapt to new situations and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Able to quickly assess, understand and incorporate new technologies.

Able to work independently as well as collectively within a team.

Must be willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
