Position Overview
The Operational Technology Manager, SCADA Engineering will report to the Director of SCADA Engineering and will be responsible for the engineering, network design, and commissioning of supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA) systems and associated communications infrastructure related to cutting-edge renewable energy projects. The OT Manager will help define and document control networks between substation devices, generation resources, remote operation centers, and other third parties. The SCADA & IT systems of these projects may include servers, PCs, RTUs, PLCs, network switches and other network equipment for all associated connectivity on wind, solar and battery storage renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities:
Specification and configuration of SCADA, power plant controller, RTU, & IT equipment networkDesign and document network segmentationAssist in defining access control list, ports, and services for communication across Electronic Security PerimetersDefine and document demilitarized zones for communication to third partiesCreation of conceptual block diagramsConduct thorough reviews of detailed design drawingsTrack design schedules, update all stakeholders and ensure that critical dates are met on timeOrganize and transfer all as-built documentation to operations team including schematics, bills of materials, and programming settingsProvide details on project requirements to procure necessary telecom servicesManage the overall planning, direction, coordination, and execution of new OT systemsProvide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership for OT system completionProvide delivery management oversight for OT networks and support teams responsible for a wide array of SCADA technologies and functionsCoordinate networking equipment configuration including specifying physical interfaces and protocols, assigning IP addresses, VLANs, and documenting firewall rulesProvide design and implementation support on the operational technology networksProvides high level troubleshooting of all active SCADA network devicesMonitor construction progress remotely and via on-site inspections. Support resolution of any field issues. Attend in-person meetings with stakeholders. Provide on-site programming and field support during commissioningLead efforts with project team to develop operational plans to energize, commission, and turnover projects while maintaining NERC complianceCoordinate with independent engineers and project partners to effectively navigate the technical due diligence processAssist in the development of new projects by analyzing conceptual designs and RFP specificationsCoordinate with operations engineering and third-party customers to incorporate lessons learned into new designsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology through various training sessions and conferences
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degreeKnowledge of generation SCADA systems acquired through 6+ years of relevant work experienceKnowledge of both the physical and software aspects of networking equipment that connect renewable energy assets Advanced knowledge and programming of SCADA, HMI, PLC platformsAbility to develop and present network diagramsKnowledge of various industrial communication protocols and architectures such as OPC, DNP3, ModBus and EGDPrior installation, commissioning, and site construction experience in renewable power generationUp to 25% travel required; valid Driver's LicenseEligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Skills:
Preferred working knowledge of NERC compliance for low impact cyber systemsAbility to coordinate and manage multiple concurrent projectsConsiderable knowledge in computer and server operationStrong project management skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skills
Salary Range
$140,000.00 - $157,000.00
