We are seeking an enthusiastic, engaged engineer who can complement our existing practices and capabilities to support our growing civil engineering staff. Candidates will have a degree/advanced degree in civil engineering with 5 to 7 years of site plan experience. Preferred candidates will have previous experience with developing residential and commercial site plans, including utilities, drainage and SWPPP's. Knowledge of local zoning and County regulations is preferred along with prior experience related to site plan development, SEQRA, and permitting. Flexibility and diversity to perform various engineering tasks. Responsibilities Design and coordination of work on multidisciplinary projects ranging from due diligence/site feasibility studies, site engineering on both residential and commercial site developments, through regulatory approvals and full permitting. Develop site layout and design, including site grading and storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, erosion and sediment control and utilities. Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and be knowledgeable of NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements. Perform project administration including writing reports, gathering information, writing proposals & correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports. Prepare engineer's opinion of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids. Coordinate with other engineering and architectural departments within the firm. Communicate directly with clients in support and coordination of all project activities. Responsible for the on-time, on budget, high quality technical delivery of all project requirements. Education and Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline. Strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, Autoturn, Excel, and Photoshop. Design experience with a specific focus on site development or municipal engineering projects Thorough understanding of the entitlement processes on Long Island. Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas. Familiarity with the design of public infrastructure and public bidding process. Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within project teams. Team-spirited, focused and able to make independent decisions. Effective oral and written communication skills.
