About The Role

The Senior Compensation Accountant will be an integral part of FTI Consulting's North America Core Accounting Team "NACA". The NACA team provides accounting support to our client service professionals and Segment Finance leadership in Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic & Litigation Consulting, Technology, Economic Consulting, Strategic Communications segments as well as the corporate accounting team. Accounting professionals within the NACA team are dedicated to working together and delivering exceptional support to the businesses they service while ensuring that compliance and control standards are maintained.

This person will report to the NACA Compensation Manager and interact with segment and corporate finance leadership on compensation related matters.

What You'll Do

Participate in all compensation related accounting activities, including calculation and recording of multiple variable compensation programs under U.S. GAAP.

Monthly Accounting Close

Compensation accounting:

Prepare and post monthly bonus accrual journal entries for segments.Month end closing of variable compensation expense ledgers and prepare journal entries.Review payroll GL files and amortize and prepare reclass journal entries according to the bonus terms.Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for related bonus accounts at month-end.Provide month-over-month fluctuation analyses on the bonus expense accounts.Analyze compensation related reports.

Review employment contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment of compensation clauses and prepare the quarterly Employment Contracts Whitepaper memo.Participate in the development and documentation of compensation related policies and procedures.Identify process issues and implement improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.Support and improve month, quarter, and year-end close processes and reporting.Other special projects and duties as directed by the NACA Compensation Manager.How You'll Grow

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related business field5 years of post-graduate professional experience in compensation related accounting, reporting, and controlsWorking knowledge of US GAAPExcellent working knowledge of PC and network environmentsIntermediate or higher level of ExcelAbility to travel to FTI office(s) as neededPreferred Qualifications:

CPAExperience with IBM Cognos TM1 or similar reporting softwareProven ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced high-volume environmentCustomer service focusedExperience working with both domestic and international operating units, including foreign currencies preferredOur Benefits
