We are seeking a high potential Lending Transactor (LT") to help grow our Ultra High New Worth (UHNW") Lending team serving UHNW clients (generally clients with a minimum net worth of at least $50 million). The LT will be located in the New York area and will support and collaborate with the UHNW Senior Lending Transactors (SLTs") throughout the US.
Position Summary: â?¢ Position Goal is to support the SLTs in delivering the UHNW Lending product platform, including Tailored Lending. The Position will have a specific focus on originating Life Insurance as Collateral, and Securities Based Lending facilities on both the Bank and Broker Dealer platforms. â?¢ Responsibilities will include assisting the SLTs with the following: a) Pursuing UHNW Lending opportunities, which will include: i) evaluating the Borrower; ii) valuation of the underlying collateral; and iii) determining if the opportunity aligns with one of the approved UHNW Lending programs. b) Underwriting transactions, which is comprised of: â?¢ Performing the appropriate level of due diligence, including evaluating appropriate financial and non-financial information to perform opportunity assessments, as defined in (a) above. â?¢ Identify key risks and mitigants in related to the opportunity and propose potential structural protections and other terms and conditions that may mitigate such risk. â?¢ Prepare and/or assist the SLT with the preparation of credit memoranda clearly outlining transactions, purpose, strengths, risks and mitigants, financial/collateral analysis and other key terms and conditions required to support the SLT's recommendation to move forward with the opportunity. c) Draft and negotiate Bank Letters of Interest (LOIs) under the guidance of the SLT. d) Assist the SLT in efficiently managing the transaction cycle through final credit approval, documentation, closing and initial funding of the transaction ensuring timely coordination with all parties involved including Credit Risk Management ("CRM") team, FA, Private Bankers (PBs"), Loan Operations, Compliance, In-house Counsel and any other party who is, or should be, involved in the specific transaction. e) Meeting with clients and prospects in coordination with SLTs to develop/enhance client/prospect relationships and identify potential product opportunities. f) In coordination with the SLT, meet with branch and complex teams to heighten product awareness and train front-end sales on identifying potential product opportunities.
Required Experience: â?¢ Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced degree preferred â?¢ Minimum 2-5 years' experience in lending origination and credit analysis, Private Banking Lending experience is a plus â?¢ Formal credit training preferred â?¢ Series 7 and 66 Licenses are preferred (will be required within 120 days of hire)
Skills/Abilities: â?¢ Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate your assessment in a clear and professional manner â?¢ Maintain poise and presence coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with sophisticated UHNW clients and their advisors â?¢ Demonstrate creativity and intelligent solutions in structuring sophisticated client transactions â?¢ Balance revenue expectations with risk requirements of firm to ensure client and firm's interests are met â?¢ Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills â?¢ Detail orientation with exceptional analytical skills â?¢ Significant accounting and finance knowledge â?¢ Ability to meet deadlines and manage Financial Advisor and client expectations â?¢ Ability to multi-task â?¢ Good collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment â?¢ Travel is required
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $180,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
