:Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure (EMI) applies engineering mechanics, materials science, numerical simulation, innovative technologies, and collective expertise to solve our clients’ toughest problems in an inspiring work environment that nurtures life-long learning and growth. Work on projects related to buildings, bridges, pipelines, nuclear facilities, tanks, rail vehicles, rotating equipment, precision observatory structures, and other non-building structures and systems. Essential duties include:Perform structural analyses under supervision.Design new structures and repairs of existing structures.Perform linear and nonlinear finite element analyses, under supervision, using programs such as Abaqus and ANSYS.Work on routine problems independently and on project teams.Assist in preparation of proposals, letters, reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.Review work by technicians, draftsmen, and others assisting the project team.Conduct field inspections.Conduct engineering calculations, using software such as Matlab and Mathcad.Minimum Requirements:Must have a Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or closely-related field.2 years of experience applying engineering mechanics fundamentals, structural dynamics, finite element analysis (FEA), and other engineering analysis, as well as using code-based and performance-based design approaches. Experience can be gained through professional employment or through PhD-level academic coursework or research.Must have proficient computer program skills in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, VBA or similar as obtained through education or experience.Applicants subject to testing during interview process to demonstrate aptitude/capabilities in engineering mechanics fundamentals, dynamic analysis, engineering design and analysis methods, and numerical methods.Eligible to telecommute 3 days/week from a home office within normal commuting distance of Waltham, MA.Position requires domestic travel to out of state project sites up to 10 times per year.The salary offered is $93,093 per year for a 40-hour work week.
