Job Description:
Directs the administrative activities for externally funded grants and contracts including funding source identification, institutional review, and sign-off of proposals; negotiates contracts; and develops research policy.
Responsibilities:
Plan and implement strategies to generate financial support by identifying, researching, cultivating, and soliciting federal, state, and private funding sources.
Lead application process including establishing timelines, identifying PIs, coordinating submission materials.
Serve as the Academic Affairs liaison to the Division of Institutional Advancement.
Work collaboratively with Institutional Advancement as well as Grants Administration to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Develop grant applications for institutional strategic priorities and support scholarly activities.
Proactively research grant opportunities and support application submissions.
Collect information, draft, and edit major proposals submitted by the University.
Monitor progress of approved applications and communicate with funding sources.
Collaborate with the business office to create and manage grant budgets.
Guide strategic research initiatives and ensure timely delivery of research findings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain understanding of industry trends.
Participate in Academic Affairs department meetings and take direction from the Provost.
Perform additional responsibilities as designated by the Provost.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree required; Terminal degree preferred.
Active Certified Research Administrator (CRA) Certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three years' experience in sponsored programs administration.
Experience in higher education preferred.
Proven experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience managing a small office.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to engage and support faculty and staff in the grant application process.
Exceptional writing skills, both technical and non-technical.
Budget management and research skills.
Ability to pursue financial resources proactively.
Effective interaction with stakeholders including administrators and funding sources.
Computer literacy and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Organizational skills and confidentiality.
Proactive outreach to faculty regarding grant opportunities.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including SharePoint.
