Job Summary:

The Construction Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing the financial aspects of construction projects to ensure financial stability and profitability. This role involves budget preparation, cost control, financial reporting, and risk management. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in construction finance.

Key Responsibilities:

Budget Development and Management

Develop detailed and accurate budgets for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.

Monitor and control expenditures to ensure projects adhere to budgetary constraints.

Prepare financial forecasts and projections to anticipate future financial needs and adjust budgets as necessary.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Perform variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between budgeted and actual costs.

Present financial insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Cost Control and Optimization

Implement cost control measures to minimize expenses and optimize resource allocation.

Analyze costs associated with construction activities and suggest strategies for cost reduction.

Risk Management

Identify financial risks related to construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

Manage contingency funds and prepare for unforeseen financial challenges.

Contract Management

Review and analyze construction contracts to understand financial commitments and ensure compliance.

Assess the financial impact of change orders and modifications to contracts.

Cash Flow Management

Forecast cash flow requirements and manage the timing of payments to vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Ensure adequate cash flow to meet project needs and avoid financial disruptions.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with project managers, accountants, and senior management to align financial strategies with project objectives.

Communicate financial status, issues, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure that financial practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.

Assist in the preparation for and facilitation of financial audits.

Data Management

Utilize financial management software and tools to maintain accurate financial records and generate reports.

Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the construction financial management industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Viewpoint), Microsoft Excel, Power-BI and financial reporting tools.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), job costing, and financial regulations specific to the construction industry.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing a finance team
