Overview
The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Institute’s efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.
Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.
Posting Summary
Rutgers is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst I for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ. The Senior Financial Analyst I will be responsible for conducting financial analysis, projects and statistical studies. Coordinates formulation, monitoring and presentation of budgets for controlling funds to implement program objectives of organization.
Duties include:
Prepares budget for units within the Institute based on organization’s performance, estimated revenue, expense reports and past budget numbers.
Supports the Institute’s annual RBHS budget preparation.
Prepares financial analysis and consults with project PIs to monitor progress and ensure adjustments are made in accordance with program changes to facilitate long-term planning; includes the monitoring of subawards.
Reviews and approves expenditures of departments to ensure compliance with budget and, allowability according to sponsor policy and compliance with Rutgers policy.

Minimum Education and Experience
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have excellent business acumen, accounting skills, detail oriented, excellent organizational skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field plus four (4) years of progressively more responsible experience in fiscal activities.
Proficient in computer applications at an advanced level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials preferred.
Strong experience managing a large portfolio of sponsored Grants and Contracts from various types of Sponsoring Agencies preferred.
Strong knowledge of Research grants and contracts budgeting and federal guidelines/regulations pertaining to Research and Development preferred.
