Research Assistant/Associate, Product Science
Centrillion is creating transformative genomic technologies leveraging engineering and biochemistry breakthroughs to accelerate discovery and reveal the real genome that has thus far been obscured by its complexity and the limitations of existing technologies. Our team of scientists and engineers is committed to making a new generation of genomic technologies accessible and affordable for a multitude of previously unapproachable applications. Centrillion is backed by venture capital and strategic investors and is located in Palo Alto, CA, at the innovation center of Silicon Valley and close to Stanford University. Centrillion is seeking a laboratory research assistant/associate to join the Product Science group. This position is in a fast-paced, start-up environment, interacting with R&D scientists from a variety of backgrounds. The position primarily involves hands-on laboratory work and data analysis. The selected individual will be working in a support role toward the development of new genomics technologies. RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out experiments using molecular biology/nucleic acid-based protocols, including RNA or DNA extraction, amplification, labeling, purification, quantification, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, array-hybridization, Next Generation Sequencing, etc. Produce, analyze, document and report results, achieving reproducible, high quality data in a timely manner. Keep accurate and detailed laboratory records. Communicate daily results and summarize progress with supervisor by oral update or written report. Troubleshoot, rapidly propose solutions and/or seek help. Professionally handle the pressure of aggressive deadlines while maintaining data quality. Education: BS/MS with an emphasis in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or related field. Requirements: 2+ years of relevant experience. Experience in the biotechnology industry is a plus. Demonstrated experience with molecular biology and biochemistry methods. Experience with microarrays and Next Generation Sequencing is preferred. Proficiency with standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office) is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to maintain careful attention to detail. Demonstrated experience keeping accurate and detailed laboratory records.
