As a Special Credits Executive Director in
the Special Credits Groupin JPMorgan’s Global Corporate Bank, you will
develop/implement risk mitigation and recovery maximization strategies for distressed exposure. Working closely with internal (capital markets and origination, industry coverage, legal, among others) and external (company management, legal and financial advisors, and other creditors) stakeholders, you will cover matters across all industries in the US, Canada, and Latin America. This includes litigation/wind-down situations as well as a portfolio of equity and debt instruments received in exchange for previous loans/claims. You will also be involved with the structuring and arrangement of stressed and distressed debt transactions, including Debtor-in-Possession / Exit facilities for companies in bankruptcy and Liability Management transactions. We are looking for an individual with strong financial analysis and legal documentation skills that is motivated, collaborative, and confident.
Job Responsibilities
Lead credit decision-making process in live stressed / distressed situations while in leadership role amongst lender group/Administrative Agent capacity
Participate on with deal teams on new originations for distressed borrowers and the restructuring of existing exposure; Transactions often contain material complex legal, financial, reputational, and jurisdictional issues
Review complex legal, financial and jurisdictional issues with an objective of improving credit structure
Coordinate across multiple internal constituencies including Industry and Product Coverage, Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance and Secondary Loan trading
Work with external constituents, including other lenders, company management, financial advisors, and outside counsel to implement optimal solutions for exposure positions
Approve quarterly Credit Surveillance, accounting and regulatory reporting on portfolio names
Evaluate exposure management opportunities through loan sale; Prepare valuations on securities/ other instruments received from previous restructurings and formulate trading and disposal strategies
Provide leadership on the wholesale regulatory, accounting and risk reporting agenda as well as other Special Credits-specific activities including crisis management and problem credit playbooks
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
7+ years experience in role focused on corporate finance, credit and leveraged finance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to make, defend, and communicate credit / structuring decisions, often based on limited information
High degree of motivation with a strong sense of accountability and ownership oftasks; Must be able to work well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment with good timemanagement
Strong attention to detail and project management skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience in a workout role at another bank is highly preferred
