The Before School Program Leader provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs that are offered at local elementary and middle schools before the start of the school day. The Before School Program Leader will help students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills through tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment. Before School Program Leaders will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students, as well as organize and provide outdoor recreational activities in the school yards. This position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.After School Program dates:San Francisco BSP sites: must be available to work August 19, 2024 – June 4, 2025Richmond YMCA is seeking Before School Program Leaders for the following before and after school programs:SUTRO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - 235 12th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118
18+ years of age for elementary school programs, 21+ years for middle school programsAssociate’s degree or higher, or High School diploma/equivalent, plus any of the following:Completed 48 college units verified by transcriptPassed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST)Passed District Instructional Aide ExamExperience working with youth (elementary or middle school)Highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youthTeam playerKnowledge or expertise in youth developmentComfortable leading physical activities with youthAvailable daily Monday-Friday during morning youth program hours; shifts vary ~7:00-10:00 amWilling to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as neededCurrent YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (training available upon hire)TB Test clearanceFingerprint background check clearancePreferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related fieldBilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferredKnowledge of arts, dance, drama, or sportsAll employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors. Job offers are conditional and contingent upon background clearance.
