Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides education, leadership development, behavioral health, intervention, street outreach, and workforce development services to youth and their families in the community of San Francisco. CYC envisions empowering young people to reach their highest potential as individuals and to develop a positive self/cultural identity.

The CYC Leadership Program educates and trains high school students in San Francisco to address racial violence, gender-based violence, violence against queer and trans communities, and build multiracial solidarity. Through the program, students develop their leadership, facilitation, and intervention skills, while deepening their knowledge of community history and resilience.
The Program Coordinator will work on a team of 3 staff to create and facilitate interactive trainings to three school-based cohorts of youth (ages 14-18), support program participants in developing their sense of community and social justice lenses, and offer outreach and education to the wider community. The Program Coordinator will be an advocate and community liaison to raise public awareness of racial, socio-economic, gender, trans/queer, and disability justice.
The Program Coordinator for the Racial Justice Cohort will work with a multiracial group of students to build their sense of community and address topics like racial solidarity, intersectionality, representation, legal justice, resilience, joy, and more.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit and supervise diverse team of multi-racial program participantsCoordinate training and develop curriculum as necessaryWork with program coordinators to develop and implement action planOversee development of multilingual educational presentations and materialsOutreach to community organizations to set up presentationsSupport the development of youth participants' skillsAttend community initiatives, collaborative and advocacy meetings related to violence preventionAttend appropriate conferences and events along with program participantsProvide case management to participants who are victims of violencePrepare program documentation and reportsOther duties as assigned by managementREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years’ experience working with diverse populations of youth and young adultsBachelor's degree in related fieldsBilingual/bi-literate in English and Spanish or an Asian languageAbility to work in partnership with young people and to support their leadershipCommitment to preventing all forms of violenceUnderstanding the impacts of trauma, violence, and healing methods on individuals and communitiesExcellent organizational and presentation skillsExperience in advocacy or community educationKnowledge of San Francisco's Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, and Latinx communities and resources for victims of violent crimeExperience working with queer / questioning / gender non-conforming youthAbility to work some evenings and weekendsBuild and maintain relationships with community-based service providers, school districts, and youth agenciesCommitment to taking regular Covid-19 health tests as required by program health and safety guidelines and/or current health directives.
