Job Overview: The Chief Business Officer (CBO) will collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer to oversee the club's business strategies, ensuring they align with its mission and financial goals. With a focus on strategic leadership, efficiency, and financial management, the CBO will manage a complex operation with an annual budget of $35 million. This role will require expertise in financial oversight, process optimization, and collaboration with department heads. The CBO will drive decision-making through data analysis, integrate technology solutions, and foster clear communication with stakeholders while upholding the club's values and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement business strategies that drive efficiency, optimize club resources, and support the club's long-term goals.
Financial Oversight:
Manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure the club's financial health. Develop revenue generation and cost optimization strategies while adhering to 501c7 and private club regulations.
Data-driven Decision-Making:
Use data and metrics to assess club performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions that support the club's long-term goals.
Technology Integration:
Oversee the integration of new technologies to improve efficiency and enhance the member experience.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Work closely with all department heads to ensure that club business strategies are aligned with the organization's overall objectives. Foster collaboration between departments to enhance efficiency goals and member experiences.
Stakeholder Communication:
Liaison between the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and staff to ensure alignment on the club's strategic priorities, organizational goals, and financial performance.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all compliance with 501c7 and Private Club and relevant legal requirements.
Risk Management:
Identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Values and Culture Alignment:
Promote and model the club's values and culture, ensuring that leadership actions align with the organization's mission and vision. Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable workplace.
Innovation and Efficiency:
Identify and implement improvements in processes and systems to ensure efficiency and innovation in club services.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally within a large organization managing a complex structure.
Strong financial acumen with a demonstrated ability to manage a large budget, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Experience managing and working collaboratively with leadership teams, ensuring alignment and efficiency.
Expertise in data analysis and metrics-driven decision-making.
Experience in implementing technology solutions to improve efficiency.
Understanding non-profit financial management and regulatory requirements is a plus.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to organizational values and fostering a strong internal culture.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field (MBA or similar advanced degree preferred).
Experience working with boards and committees is a plus.
