Full-timeThe FinOps Foundation is a program of The Linux Foundation that includes 26,000+ individual members, representing more than 10,000 companies. You’ll be joining our fast-moving team of ~30 people who support the FinOps community. Our mission is to advance every individual who manages the value of cloud wherever they are by enriching connections, advancing careers and growth, and being the definitive resource for all FinOps practices.The product owner will serve as the principal owner of the roadmap of development for the FOCUS project, primarily responsible for release planning, backlog grooming, product vision, and will directly lead the functional activities of the project. Will serve as a Maintainer, and work in coordination with the program manager, SteerCo chair, Technical Leads, and other FinOps Foundation personnel.This is a full-time contract or employee position. Fully remote, US, SA, EU time zones preferred. Travel is required several times per year.Responsibilities include:Define and maintain the FOCUS Product roadmap, including release plans for Project development and related asset development in the FinOps Foundation.Directly represent the FinOps Foundation and its community in defining features and releases which support the practice of FinOps.Support the maintainers, contributors, and task forces in the work detailed by the FOCUS Project, taking input from them in grooming the backlog of feature development requests into releases.Maintain ongoing communications with FOCUS Maintainers and FinOps Foundation FOCUS User Group leads to coordinate work efforts.Communicate with representatives of all cloud service provider members of the FOCUS Project to support and guide their efforts toward the end goals of the FOCUS Project.Provide thought leadership and content matter expertise to ensure progress is made toward goals as required to meet release deadlines.Develop and promote broad communication of FOCUS Project goals, objectives, plans, releases, and details to the FinOps Practitioners community.Regularly speak and present at FOCUS meetings, FinOps events, and industry forums on the benefits and details of FOCUS implementation.Support the development of FOCUS-based deliverables and assets for the FinOps Foundation among FOCUS Members and the general community.Gather requirements from FinOps practitioners for FOCUS use cases, working with the FOCUS User Group lead.Enable FOCUS Members and prospective vendors to understand FOCUS, find gaps, and contribute standard implementations.Enable customer adoption of FOCUS and its implementation.Minimum Requirements:Successful experience managing a technology or cloud product in a collaborative environment with a multi-year, multi-release roadmap.Deep and broad experience and understanding of cloud billing data, SaaS billing data, data center billing data, licensing, and financial management generally.Perspectives and experience on cloud billing data from the perspective of a provider of data and as a consumer of data.Deep or broad experience as a user of one or more cloud services, and a general understanding of all categories of cloud services.Deep experience in one or more of the FinOps Persona roles, with a clear understanding of all other FinOps Personas and their objectives and needs.Multiple years of experience in the FinOps community and with the practice of FinOps directly as a practitioner or practicing consultant.Experience with data structures, data schemas, data science, data analytics or business intelligence in big data infrastructures, preferably cloud billing data.Technical experience with data management concepts and data manipulation software or software languages.Experience using GitHub or other code repositories, Google Workspace tools, Zoom, and Slack.Excellent communication skills and presentation ability.Ability to get things done expediently and rally others to make progress on challenging issues.Experience working in an open-source environment, managing interactions between volunteers from competing or related organizations.Experience managing conflict, stalemates, complex issues, and interpersonal challenges.Ability to empathetically coordinate win-win outcomes from conflicts and disagreements.Ability to collate diverse points of view and competing priorities from stakeholders to create inclusive and balanced outcomes.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Supporting Linux Foundation Employees:In addition to the mission-driven culture focused on the organization’s technological impact on society, The Linux Foundation has a strong culture of supporting its employees.
