Preferred Qualifications:Experience recruiting non-degree-seeking international students.Experience developing and managing a budget.Experience with program evaluation.Experience working within a large, decentralized university.Leadership experience in a higher education unit or program.

Summary:The Director of Global Opportunities (GO) Minnesota is responsible for the leadership, development, and management of the GO Minnesota program. GO Minnesota recruits, admits, and supports non-degree-seeking international students who wish to take classes at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus for a summer, semester, or year. The Director is expected to work with University partners to develop, manage, and sustain enrollments in a portfolio of programs for Global Programs and Strategy (GPS) Alliance initiatives.

Responsibilities:Program Development and Administration (30%):

Direct the development, administration, and evaluation of GO Minnesota programs and initiatives. Analyze trends and modify program offerings, processes, and recruiting efforts to increase visibility and enrollments. Identify new areas for growth and collaborate with University partners on GO Minnesota program development and delivery. Proactively reduce University of Minnesota institutional barriers that inhibit student participation. Develop and implement program policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant GPS and University units. Manage all contracts, negotiations, and relationships with international partners, University colleges and departments, and service providers. Collaborate with international institutions and organizations to develop innovative GO Minnesota programming. Manage enrollment process to ensure all application, confirmation, and program information is accurate and timely. Liaise with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) to manage student visa process. Develop and oversee the management of the budget.Marketing and Recruitment (40%):

In consultation with the Vice Provost, create and implement a student recruitment strategy for GO Minnesota. Visit potential and existing partner institutions abroad for student recruitment efforts and relationship development and management. Identify and develop new markets, and monitor potential changes in existing markets. Identify and contract with organizations, agencies, and institutions that can assist with recruiting qualified students. Collaborate with GPS Communications and Marketing to plan, develop, and implement program-related promotion and recruitment efforts along with content for web, social media, print, and advertising; write and edit content when necessary. Attend relevant conferences and trade shows.Student Services and Advising (25%):

Respond to prospective and current student inquiries. Advise students on the application process and course selection. Apply counseling and intercultural communication theories to counsel and advise students as necessary. Coordinate and lead cohort orientation. Collaborate with college liaisons and other pertinent colleagues on campus. Manage student emergencies; Communicate with relevant parties as needed. Adhere to professional and ethical standards from the counseling and international education fields. Work with university units and community partners to accommodate student needs regarding academics, housing/meals, and travel. Manage student records.Professional Development and Service (5%):

Participate in other projects/tasks as assigned by the Vice Provost. Serve on university committees related to international recruitment, international student and scholar services, and GPS Alliance staff meetings and activities, as appropriate or assigned. Promote, support, and participate in international education efforts with university units, appropriate professional associations, and organizations. Stay abreast of current trends and philosophies in counseling, intercultural competency, and student development. Utilize expertise to develop best practices in serving non-degree-seeking international students and share best practices with other institutions.
