Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is a non-profit family planning agency and a leader in sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and education in the state of Utah. We provide high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for Utahns/people in eight health centers across the state.

Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead all development efforts for our organization. The CDO will manage and maintain key relationships with a growing Engagement team, an engaged Board of Directors, and a robust portfolio of major gifts, planned gifts, and annual, foundation, and corporate donors.

We are looking for a dynamic, organized, passionate, equity-centered, and strategic leader to inspire and promote PPAU’s mission-driven work, elevate donor engagement, and champion reproductive health and rights in Utah. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CDO will oversee two direct reports, and will be instrumental in the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that spans major gifts, planned giving, annual appeals, grant writing, and donor cultivation events.

This position is ideal for a driven, relationship-focused leader who excels in engaging and motivating donors and team members alike. As part of PPAU’s executive team, the CDO will partner closely with the CEO to develop and execute strategies to secure the resources necessary to advance PPAU’s impact in the community.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop and execute PPAU’s annual fundraising plan.

Represent PPAU at local and national professional fundraising organizations.

Set annual monetary goals and budgets according to short-term and long-term objectives.

Secure financial support from individuals and foundations for capital and operational needs.

Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors while developing strategies to secure new financial support.

Expand communities of supporters across demographic groups including people who have not been reached through previous fundraising efforts.

Understanding of intersectionality, health equity and how they impact sexual and reproductive health care.

Works with and trains key volunteers and staff to plan and implement annual fundraising campaigns and to plan and coordinate benefit events.

Establish and maintain contact with prospects to develop their interest and participation in major PPAU fundraising projects and to provide information concerning the utilization of gifts.

Assist with planning and coordinating major development events including dedications, stewardship programs and recognition events, and fundraising campaigns.

Create and implement an annual strategic fundraising plan that supports the vision, including individual giving, annual fundraising, grants, corporate giving, events, major gifts, and legacy giving.

Maintain a portfolio of major gift donors through the donor cycle of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, including individual and institutional donors.

Collaborate with the CEO to refine donor strategies and ensure key donor relationships are managed.

Inspire donors, partners, and the community to action through impassioned and eloquent storytelling.

Utilize data to drive decision-making, create donor segmentation, and enhance predictive financial modeling for the organization in collaboration with the CFO and CEO.

Partner with the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing to regularly communicate with donors and community members.

Oversee the organization of fundraising special events.

Work with vendors, as needed, to manage direct-mail fundraising and grant applications or reporting.

Produce relevant and informative fundraising literature and information for distribution.

Oversee the fundraising process and maintains records of receipt and disbursement of funds.

Work with the CEO and CFO to develop and implement financial strategy by creating, approving, and implementing ambitious yet reasonable budgets.

Provide fundraising leadership to the Board, including attending Board meetings, leading the corporate engagement committee, preparing and giving reports, and providing opportunities for the Board to engage in fundraising efforts.

Set and achieve fundraising goals, make connections, and cultivate relationships.

Monitor progress against the organization’s short- and long-range and strategic plans.

Provide regular updates and analysis on revenue sources.

What we're looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Five years of increasingly progressive roles in fundraising and development experience may be substituted.

Five years of leadership experience in fundraising and development for a nonprofit organization highly preferred.

Strong commitment to equity and inclusion demonstrated through all aspects of fundraising plan, collateral material and initiatives.

Excellent management of contracts and grants, including grant application and reporting skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills including supervising and leading teams

Intermediate skill level using MS Office products.

Previous experience and demonstrated capability using fundraising software.

Professional, self-motivated, results oriented.

Strong communication skills (written/verbal/presentation).

Detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel on an ongoing basis.

Strong customer service skills.

Proven ability to adhere to timelines and completes projects within specific time allowances.

$130,000 - $140,000 a year

The starting pay for this position is $130,000 - $140,000 annual DOE.
