has an exciting opportunity for an

Associate Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations . The Associate Director will serve as a frontline fundraiser in the Office of Philanthropy central team toward the primary goal of increasing philanthropic support for identified institutional priorities of UMB. Design, coordinate, and implement strategies to secure funding from private, family, and corporate foundations, as well as from other private grant-making organizations, at the local, regional, and national levels. May sometimes assist UMB faculty and staff with city, state and federal grant opportunities for research and programs. Work with the Corporate and Foundation Relations team to build successful and lasting relationships with these foundations, corporations, and private grant-making organizations. Maintain positive, productive, and ongoing interaction with UMB faculty, staff, and development colleagues. Proactively identify new prospects for UMB. Exercise autonomy, diplomacy and persistence while navigating the complex UMB academic and program environments and representing the organization to foundation and corporate leaders of the highest level. Work performed under fundraising activities will be 75%, collaboration and outreach activities will be 15%, and administrative activities will be 10%. Benefits: Exempt Regular UMB offers a

Primary Duties: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and foundation prospects to support UMB fundraising initiatives. May sometimes assist with government agency opportunities. These include, but are not limited to research investigations, clinical programs, community health outreach initiatives, Office of Community and Civic Engagement programs, educational programs, and Dean's programmatic initiatives. Develop and manage a designated portfolio of corporate and foundation prospect listings. Collaborate with school leadership, faculty members, and executive directors of programs, institutes, centers, and presidential initiatives to identify opportunities where institutional projects match the funding requirements of local, regional, and national foundations. Assist Director to develop and recommend strategies to guide proposal processes. Write and edit funding requests and correspondence. Conduct visits with prospective and previous donors to strengthen relationships and to inform donors of areas that need support. Conduct personal visits to present requests for support. Arrange for meetings with key faculty and staff members as part of the ongoing cultivation and stewardship efforts needed to foster strong relationships with donors. Participate in selected fundraising committees, strategic planning sessions, and volunteer committees within the seven UMB schools and presidential initiatives. Develop contact and task reports and record activities in moves management system. Produce high-quality written communication for funders at all stages of the development process, including proposals for foundation and corporate prospects, mid-year and final reports for all funding streams including financial reports to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Follow procedures in coordination with the Office of Philanthropy Operations and the Sponsored Program Administration to ensure effective recording, accounting, acknowledgement and reporting follow-up on all gifts and grants resulting from solicitations. Assist Director with creating a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve unit's goals. Assist with overseeing the training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree. Experience:

Six (6) years of progressive experience in development or related field, plus proven record of securing corporate and foundation gifts. Supervisory Experience:
