Reaching multicultural audiences in today’s communications mix is critical to the success of driving a business forward. Brands must enable cross cultural, total market inclusivity by integrating cultural insights for mass market appeal and design with a multicultural and cross-cultural audiences in mind.
We are seeking a passionate, energetic and knowledgeable multicultural strategist with a thoughtful sense of storytelling to multicultural communities. The ideal candidate is a sophisticated, strategic and creative thinker who applies a multicultural lens and a PR & marketing communications mindset to all client work. They should have a deep knowledge and understanding of the multicultural audience and consumer landscape with a strong roster of media friendlies and/or partner relationships across Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian and LGBTQ+ publications and broadcast outlets with deep relationships within the Black media relations space. Ideally, this person is comfortable working on a broad array of clients, bringing diversity of thought from the Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian and/or LGBTQ+ perspective to our media strategies across a broad array of industries such as CPG, food, hospitality, tech, health, beauty and business/finance.
Additionally, they will have an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to manage multiple, simultaneous assignments while balancing internal (Zeno) and external (client) expectations. This candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, unwavering confidence in counseling clients and passion for securing coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
8-10 years' experience at agency or in-house, with a primary expertise in multicultural earned media and earned strategy
A proven track record of leading large-scale communications campaigns at the strategic and executional level
An ability to conceptualize media-worthy campaigns from initial ideas and brainstorms – and the ability weigh in quickly on what is considered “mediable” to Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian and LGBTQ+ communities
A robust portfolio of secured recent media coverage across top-tier multicultural publications and outlets including national, local, broadcast, print, digital mediums
Demonstrated excellent writing and editorial skills as well as the proven ability to make clear, convincing presentations to clients and senior leaders
An innate and natural ability to multi-task and juggle many different client projects and internal Zeno priorities
Media training experience for client spokespeople, from C-suite to celebrities and other brand partners
A leading-edge knowledge of how multicultural communication strategy works today
Solution-oriented, collaborative, go-getter mentality with the ability to thrive amid ambiguity
RESPONSIBILITIES
Multicultural Campaign Strategy Development and Execution
- Lead the development and execution of multi-channel communication strategies for a range of clients (e.g. consumer, corporate, tech, hospitality, healthcare, etc.) with a specific expertise in multicultural communication
Pitch and Deliver Results
– This role will be expected to deliver results across the board, securing multicultural media coverage while also helping strengthen multicultural strategy executions savviness of account teams and clients
Strong Multicultural Media and Partner Contacts
– It is expected that this person will bring a strong roster of top-tier and cross-category media and/or partner contacts to Zeno (i.e., HBCU’s, NAACP, CBC, Blavity, Black News Channel, Race & Culture Units at General Market Outlets, Essence Magazine, Vice, Out Magazine, HypeBeast, Complex, People En Espanol and Ebony) and have the ability to build new relationships where needed
Deep Knowledge of the Multicultural and Cross-cultural Customer Landscape
– Have a pulse on the multicultural audience landscape, insider knowledge and ability to unearth strategic opportunities for our clients across the board
$95,000 - $156,000 a year
Pay range: $95,000 to $156,000/year USD
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
