Hanwha Aerospace began its military gas turbine engine MRO business in the 1980s and expanded its operations to include military gas turbine engine development, production, and engine component manufacturing.
Aero Engines Business Group has recently integrated three key business units - Aero Systems Business Group, International Engine Business Group and Future Aero R&D institute - into one. The integration will allow us to accelerate globalization of the business by maximizing synergies.
Position Overview:
Hanwha Aerospace is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead and expand our Military and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) business. This role is critical in driving growth within these strategic sectors, developing key relationships with military organizations, defense contractors, and MRO providers, and managing the business development process from identification of opportunities to contract finalization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Military and International MRO markets, with a proven ability to secure new business and foster long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
Identify and pursue new opportunities within the Military and MRO Sectors.
Set goals and develop plans for business revenue growth.
Generate leads through networking and cold-calling prospective clients.
Lead the proposal development process including the preparation of bid and negotiation for new contracts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop customer solutions.
Program Management:
Oversee key engine programs from start to finish ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Serve as the primary interface between the customer and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and timely executions of customer needs.
Monitor program performance, manage risks and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute strategic plans for business growth within the aerospace sector.
Analyze market trends, customer needs and competitor activities to drive long-term initiatives.
Forecast revenue, identify risks and opportunities and develop strategic plans to meet financial targets.
Customer Advocacy:
Serve as a customer advocate ensuring customer feedback is captured.
Maintain strong, ongoing communication with customers to foster long-term relationships.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Work closely with internal departments including engineering, finance, operations and legal to develop comprehensive proposals and ensure alignment with contractual terms.
Prepare regular reports on business development activities, program status and market conditions for senior management.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences and trade shows to promote our Military and MRO capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of business development or program management in the aerospace industry.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex aerospace programs and securing new business.
Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, products and industry regulations.
Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with aerospace defense contractors or government programs.
Familiarity with contract management and legal aspects of aerospace agreements.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent program management experience.
Strong technical understanding of aerospace engines, systems and components.
