Systems Technical Program Manager, Project Taara (Fixed Term)
Loon, Mountain View, California, us, 94039
This is a fixed-term contract position for 12 months
About the Team:
Project Taara is focused on delivering high-throughput and long-range connectivity via free-space optical communication (FSOC) links that use light (eye-safe lasers) propagating between two terminals to wirelessly transmit high speed data. Learn more about Project Taara.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager with Electrical and Systems Integration and test experience to work as part of an Operations team in the Manufacturing and testing of Wireless Optical Communication (WOC) systems. These systems are used for delivering abundant and affordable internet. The role is focused on applying manufacturing engineering rigor to support sustainability and new product introduction (NPI), and ensuring cost-effective and robust scalability of WOC products.
In this role you will also lead overall program management for a fast paced, highly innovative product development team, including workload balancing, leading engineering sprints, structuring meetings, overseeing and tracking workstreams supporting the program goals, and helping to create OKRs as well as carefully track progress against them. Working hand in hand with our Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering teams, you will keep product development efforts in alignment with the product release schedule and performance requirements.
How you will make 10x Impact:
Collaborate on the development of system integration and test processes and tooling for electronic and photonic subsystems, PCBA’s, system integration and test.
Drive design for Manufacturing (DFM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities, supporting new product introduction (NPI) builds, and successful transition to manufacturing.
Work with contract manufacturers and vendors to improve build consistency, reduce cycle time, increase yield, and drive down cost.
Understand product launch priorities and translate into Engineering impact to provide input on timelines and feasibility.
Work with Engineering Leads and cross-functional teams to develop and track execution plans for internal and external projects, keeping team on track for deliverables and regularly reporting on progress.
Identify and prioritize risks in ambiguous, complex environments across both internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a point of coordination and communication between the projects, cross-functional teams, and leadership.
What you should have:
BS degree in electrical engineering or a related field with 10+ years of experience in a TPM and Manufacturing Engineering role.
Strong understanding of electrical systems and PCBA design and manufacturing. Good understanding of optical and photonics subsystems integration and testing.
Technical depth in two or more of these areas: optics, mechanics, and photonics.
Strong track-record of effective technical project management skills: software stack and/or hardware-software systems engineering, project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, process documentation, priorities alignment, and strong communication skills.
Experience working with multi discipline in managing technical projects and technical communication (internal or external).
Experience using tools for project management.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate effectively at all levels, and execute and iterate quickly with ever-changing problem sets and environment.
Ability to influence without authority, working with technical and cross-functional teams who do not report into this role to get things done.
It would also be nice if you had:
Experience with Semiconductor, Medical and Telecommunication equipment.
Six-sigma or similar certifications.
