Emerging Technologies team specializes in building forward-looking, extremely scalable platforms. The team has a passion for solving hard problems, exploring new domains, and engineering custom solutions optimal for Apple. You will join a hands-on development team that fosters creativity and generates novel solutions to deliver engineering perfection. In this role, you will develop Apple's next generation perimeter security and load balancing solutions. You will help address immensely technical challenges including security, availability and fault tolerance in proxies fronting Apple's largest, highly scaled and distributed services. Your contributions to network and application security will enable Apple to respond to emerging threats. Description Emerging Technologies team is seeking talented, highly motivated and disciplined engineers to work across Layer 4 - Layer 7 load balancing and security technologies. Key responsibilities include: Implement all phases of the development cycle for a software product from understanding requirements to going through the design, development, and deployment phases. Work with cross-functional teams to deliver the features into the product under tight timelines. Collaborate with your teammates through design discussions, code and design reviews, advocate for software development best practices, and mentor junior teammates. Be versatile and enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack. Minimum Qualifications Expertise in C & C++. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, SSL and HTTP Protocols. Good understanding of HTTP/HTTPS proxies. Working experience with load balancer products like NGINX and Envoy. At least 5 years of relevant software development experience. Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science or related engineering field. Preferred Qualifications Programming experience in LUA, Python, Go, and Rust. Knowledge of WAF. Experience with public cloud platforms: GCP, AWS. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
