NoDuties and Responsibilities
The Associate Director for the Tutoring Center provides leadership for learning assistance and academic support services in the university, overseeing operations within the Tutoring Center and its satellite operations, as well faculty and student outreach. Reporting to the Director of Student Transitions and Academic Partnerships within Student Academic Services in the university's Student Success area, the Associate Director:Provides leadership to support services provided by the Tutoring Center; oversees day-to-day operations within the Tutoring Center, including organizational and technological systems (i.e., data collection and analysis via technology platforms, tutoring appointment processes, centralized administrative processes for the centers' front desks and office operations, etc.) and faculty and student outreach.Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates employees of the Tutoring Center following policies outlined by Human Resources; manages payroll responsibilities and front desk coverage.Directs all peer tutoring and supplemental instruction, including training, assessment, and promotion; oversees services, programs, and staff; designs and implements training for staff; maintains center's national certification; assesses and reports outcomes to relevant stakeholders.Maintains the day-to-day function of the tutoring appointment process and related software/technology, including schedules, center and location availability, and various reporting functions, while working closely with Information Technology Services staff.Oversees data collection and reporting process for weekly, end-of-semester, and annual reporting on programming and student services usage and assists Office of Institutional Effectiveness with data reporting, as needed.Prepares and delivers reports, in both oral and written formats, and maintains a centralized calendar of all programs and services.Plays an integral role in supporting and executing events and initiatives sponsored by New Student Programs, including New Student Orientation, UNIV student seminar courses, New Student Convocation, etc.Identifies and implements efficiencies with other tutoring programming (e.g., shared hiring, cross training) within academic departments, the Writing Center, Scholars Programs, Athletics, etc.Creatively increases academic support and coverage for all campuses, including Water Tower Campus, Health Sciences Campus, and our global campuses, including online/remote tutoring options.Collaborates and maintains effective relationships with relevant staff, advisors, and faculty in terms of development and delivery of academic support services and programs, including but not limited to Athletics, Scholars Programs, the Student Accessibility Center, Military Veteran Student Services, and International Student and Scholar Services; solicits feedback related to maintaining consistency in serving students.Teaches multiple sections of UNIV seminar courses.Participates in Student Academic Services signature programs, including the Majors & Minors Fair, placement test proctoring, finals week proctoring, and various student celebrations.Provides recommendations for annual budget and office expenditures.Researches, shares, and adopts best practices in academic support and learning services, while identifying and utilizing strategic and innovative tutoring and academic support models; maintains center and program certification.Conducts outreach to faculty, department chairs, and deans for program expansion, Center relations, and constituent education on Tutoring Center resources and services.Implements the strategic and assessment plan for the Tutoring Center that is student-centered and in support of the University's mission and values.Analyzes high-enrollment and high-DFW-rate courses, and responds to needs for academic support (tutoring, Supplemental Instruction) in those areas.Develops and evaluates Tutoring Center programming, utilizing data collected from Office of Institutional Effectiveness-sponsored surveys, other surveys and evaluations, student focus groups, benchmark institutions, and professional organizations.Develops and implements policies and procedures for the Center.Develops marketing and communication plans for students, faculty, staff, and the community regarding Tutoring Center services, which includes educational, promotional, and evaluative efforts, including the maintenance of the Tutoring Center's website.Investigates ways to support the university's efforts for retention, student success and graduation, including the support of students on academic probation.Represents the Tutoring Center on University committees relevant to student success, academic support services and initiatives, and retention efforts related to student academic performance.Performs related duties as required.Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master's Degree in higher education or related field and knowledge of learning and tutoring theory. Five years' experience.Qualifications
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field required; knowledge of learning and tutoring theory; plus 5-7 years of management, leadership, and program development experience within higher education and student affairs.Solid understanding of learning theory and academic support strategies and services.Experience developing and implementing student programming at the post-secondary level required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to competently assess students' needs and provide appropriate learning assistance.Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in programming efforts and University committee participation.Supervisory/managerial experience, high degree of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision; strong collaborative, problem-solving, and planning skills.Dedication to student success, providing student-centered services in the Ignatian tradition, and University student retention efforts.Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

Technical proficiency in use of computers and software applications such as Microsoft Office 365 applications.Proficiency in student information systems; Oracle PeopleSoft is preferred.Proficiency in data reporting tools, dashboards, and information retrieval systems; familiarity with Microsoft PowerBI and WebFOCUS preferred.Proficiency in student success platforms or appointment-scheduling systems; familiarity with EAB Navigate360 preferred.Prior administration or understanding of tutor or other student services scheduling software/technology preferred.Supervisory Responsibilities
