The Japan Consumer Innovation organization is looking for a customer-obsessed, highly analytical Senior Data Scientist to become a key member of our Data Services & Technologies (DST) team. You will be a strategic data partner to our Strategic Supply Chain (SSC) innovation team, whose mission is to reinvent the vendor experience for inbound, drive process streamlining and service innovation, and ultimately delight our vendor partners with a first-of-its-kind B2B experience.This role calls for a data analytics leader to identify and implement opportunities to transform the business through a range of diagnostic and predictive analytics. As the lead product analyst for SSC, you will lead data-driven service innovation by identifying supply chain opportunities and defects, service gaps, and system/process improvements. You will conduct pricing and demand analysis for service design and planning. You will deep dive product data to understand user behavior and develop insights for future product enhancements. You will refine key metrics and construct new metrics to ensure our systems and processes are performing to a high standard and delivering our service promise to the customer. You will identify causal relationships and estimate the downstream impact our inbound supply chain ultimately has on customer experience.The ideal candidate is logical, systematic, and extremely intuitive about how data can be used for business impact. They are armed with an analytical toolkit of machine learning and econometric techniques and are adept at matching the right tool to solving challenging problems. They must have deep expertise in supply chain or be an extremely fast and curious learner to build the necessary domain expertise. They must be precise in data definition, skeptical of data lineage and relentless in ensuring data quality and reliability. At the same time, they must have a bias for action, be resourceful and prepared to wrangle data from various sources to fuel their analysis. They are a life-long learner and driven to work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams, empowering them by providing deep insights to drive action and success for the entire organization.Key job responsibilitiesYour key responsibilities include:Diagnostic analytics - identify inbound supply chain process or system opportunities/defects and recommend process or product improvements.Predictive analytics - pricing analysis and demand prediction for existing and new supply chain services; impact estimation/attribution between upstream and downstream measures.Prescriptive analytics - from exploratory data analysis to prototyping and implementation of recommendation models for inbound supply chain optimization.Lead data transformation in the business - identify and implement opportunities to simplify and sharpen the way we do business through data automation and analytics.Drive partnerships with technical teams and business stakeholders across Amazon in Japan and worldwide.Keep up to date with recent scientific development in the field.Minimum Qualifications- 8+ years (in case of Bachelor) or 4+ years (in case of Master) of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience.- Proficiency with data analysis and machine learning packages e.g. Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib/Seaborn/Plotnine, Scikit-Learn, LightGBM, etc.- Strong understanding of statistical analysis (hypothesis testing and experiment design) and machine learning techniques for tabular data.- Ability to deal with ambiguity, and respond flexibly to changes in a very fast-paced, international environment.- Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex analytical insights to technical and non-technical audiences.- Business level English (written and verbal).Preferred Qualifications- Master’s Degree in a relevant technical field.- Hands-on experience in data querying languages (e.g. SQL).- Familiarity with AWS data solutions such as EMR, Athena, S3, and Redshift.- Business level Japanese (written and verbal).
