SMX is looking for an

Active Directory Engineer

to join our team! This is a hybrid role (50%) based in Quantico, VA.The Active Directory Engineer will be part of an Enterprise AD Support team supporting over 265,000 user accounts and 140,000 computer accounts across several AD domains on government operated networks. The services that the AD Support team provides in Active Directory include accounts and group management; security configuration of the AD infrastructure; Domain Name Service (DNS); Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol; Distributed File Replication Services; Group Policy Objects; and other directory services technologies as applicable.The Active Directory Engineer will provide Tier III level Active Directory support and requires knowledge of the Windows Server Operating System and relevant AD applications (such as Lync, System Center Suite, and Exchange). The underlying infrastructure consists of both physical servers and VMware based servers and requires knowledge in VMware Virtualization and VMware vCloud to perform the specialized EDM Active Directory tasks.Additional duties and responsibilities include:Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with AD and internal DNSResolve Active Directory tickets escalated from the service desk to include completing the associated administrative activities and provide a weekly status reportCoordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections as well as other sections as requiredProvide documentation, guidance and instruction to Tier II, and service desks for handling standard Active Directory related incidents, work orders, and service requestsProvide Active Directory Service Desk Resolution Reports documentation to the service desk on the procedures for completing the taskSubmit and execute AD related Request for Change tasksMonitor the system availability and performance of AD with Government-provided event management tools, and take corrective action with regard to incidents that lower the health of ADProvide project support for AD related technologiesCoordinate with the Engineering Team and other sections on AD-related issuesSupport change management process; submit requests through Change Approval Board; and participate in Change Review BoardsEscalate product issues to third party product vendors upon Government approvalImplement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediationProvide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for the annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI)Required Skills and Experience:Clearance Required: Top Secret

Highly qualified candidates with a Secret clearance will be considered, but must be eligible for TS upgrade

A minimum of Security+ certification is required to start.

A DoD 8580 IAT III certification will be required within 180 days.

(i.e. CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, or CISSP (or Associate))

Professional level certification, i.e. MCSA Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, MCSE Core Infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid AdministratorThorough working knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019Thorough working knowledge of Active Directory as it relates to enterprise technologiesAbility to evaluate the need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant)Ability to maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for messaging system administration and appropriate useAbility to identify and troubleshoot server performance issues using native Windows Server tools and utilitiesMaintain a “forward looking” posture and work with management to plan for future upgrades, including Active Directory migration to the newer versionsDesired Qualifications:7 years related experienceFirewall, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) experience configuring, certificate configuring; troubleshootingExperience with PowerShell commands needed to manage Active Directory features, roles, mailboxes, performance and troubleshootingExperience maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for Active Directory system administration and appropriate useExperience in building, tuning and maintaining servers in an enterprise environmentStrong experience with Active Directory 2012/2016/2019, planning, deploying and migration, including experience with mailbox server failover and cluster managementExtensive knowledge of AD architecture - databases and logs, mail routing and protocol supportGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to follow policies and proceduresAbility to communicate in a clear speaking voice as well as the ability to respond clearly to questionsAptitude to address negative situations and resolve them in a positive mannerApplication Deadline: October 21, 2024The proposed salary for this position is: $105,500—$158,300 USDSMX is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
