We are currently recruiting for the position of:

Vice President, Merchandising (Meat & Seafood) - Modesto, CA

Job Summary:

The Vice President, Merchandising is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of Merchandising in assigned area. This individual will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives to drive sales, margin growth, and customer satisfaction. The VP will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, operations, marketing, and finance to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the department aligned with company goals and objectives. This includes product assortment planning, pricing strategies, promotional initiatives, and sourcing strategies.

Product Assortment Management:

Lead the development of product assortments that meet customer demand and drive sales growth. Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for assortment optimization and expansion.

Supplier and Vendor Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Negotiate favorable terms and agreements to ensure high-quality products at competitive prices. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for vendor selection and partnerships.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance standards for products to ensure freshness, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement processes and procedures for product testing, inspection, and traceability.

Pricing and Margin Management : Develop and implement pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Monitor pricing trends and adjust strategies as needed to optimize margins and drive sales volume.

Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory planning and management processes to ensure optimal stock levels and product availability. Develop inventory management strategies to minimize waste, shrinkage, and out-of-stock situations while maximizing inventory turnover.

Promotional Planning:

Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop promotional calendars and campaigns that drive traffic and sales for meat and seafood products. Evaluate promotional effectiveness and ROI to optimize future promotional activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, operations, marketing, and finance to ensure alignment and execution of meat and seafood strategies. Collaborate on product launches, marketing campaigns, and operational initiatives to drive overall business success.

Performance Analysis and Reporting : Monitor key performance metrics including sales, margin, inventory turns, and customer satisfaction. Analyze performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership.

Team Leadership and Development : Provide leadership and direction to team. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Coach and develop team members to maximize their potential and contribute to the success of the department and the organization.

Hiring pay range: $223,840.00 - 275,000.00

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Deep category knowledge and expertise in product category

Deep understanding of products, including sourcing, processing, and merchandising.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful merchandising strategies that drive sales and profit growth.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate market trends and identify opportunities for business growth.

Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Deep understanding of retail and e-commerce industries, with knowledge of current market trends and best practices.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance requirements for products.

Proficiency in retail merchandising software and analytics tools.

Passion for food and commitment to delivering exceptional quality and service to customers.

Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

Experience:

15 Years related experience, 10 years Management, Supervisory and/or Leadership experience

Education:

4 year Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training in Business Administration, Marketing, Merchandising or related field.

Other:

Approximately 20% travel
