Summary:As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization the successful Director, Planned Giving will execute LLS’s planned giving strategy within their designated territory and work in close partnership with Advancement, Territory, and Region partners to close deferred and blended gift commitments in support of our mission to relentlessly pursue cancer cures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

Maintain a portfolio of 30-50 planned giving donors and prospects, managing all phases of the planned giving relationship within the assigned prospect pool.

Respond to prospect inquiries regarding deferred gifts, charitable gift annuities, and outright gifts of non-cash assets.

Work in partnership with the Donor Engagement team to ensure engagement, stewardship, and cultivation of identified donors.

Ensure all planned giving activities are inputted and updated in LLS’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Territory Leadership

Collaborate with the Principal Gift Directors, Territory Advancement Directors, Territory and Region Executive Directors, and Region Advancement staff to review individual prospects and donors identified as planned and blended gift prospects.

Conduct regular meetings with the Territory and Region partners, and any other appropriate Territory colleagues to educate on planned and blended giving opportunities across the organization in partnership with the Vice President, Planned Giving. Partner with the Territory leadership to present to regional Boards to educate on planned giving and leverage relationships to secure planned and blended gifts.

Monitor planned giving activities from the territory and region teams to analyze program metrics.

Participate in internal and external conferences and summits in partnership with the Vice President, Planned Giving.

Strategy

Partner with Principal Gift Officers, Territory Advancement peers, and Region Advancement Directors to integrate strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, steward, and solicit planned giving donors within designed Territory/markets.

Partner with the Advancement Leadership and Territory Leadership to set transparent performance indicators and analyze metrics for Territory Teams.

Ensure alignment with the Territory Advancement Directors and Principal Gift Officers regarding the Planned Giving strategic objectives consultation with Territory and Region staff.

Recommend strategies to the Vice President, Planned Giving for growing planned giving through training region staff and volunteers, and marketing planned gifts to volunteers, staff, and donors.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

5-7 years of experience in planned gift fundraising.

Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of planned giving vehicles and experience closing complex gifts.

Position Requirements:

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Ability to mentor, coach and consult with highly functioning teams across a complex organization.

Proficient with MS Office Suite, PG Calc, and database software. Experience with MarketSmart and/or Free Will is a plus.

Able to communicate financial matters in a mature style and understandable manner with donors and advisors across a wide range of financial sophistication.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal and financial documents.

Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.

Average salary range is $102,800-$147,890, open to further discussion based on geography.

In alignment with the nature of this role, periodic evening and weekend work is to be expected.
