Position Overview:
The VP of Marketing & Communications (MarCom) primary responsibility is to manage the infrastructure needed to sustain and grow our brand marketing, communications, advertising, and digital initiatives.
The Vice President of Marketing and Communications leads a team of staff to plan and implement a strategic, integrated marketing and communications approach across all UWNYC initiatives, programs, and activities. This person strategically oversees and integrates the marketing, communications, public relations, creative strategy and execution, events and brand management functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads growth of UWNYC brand familiarity, ensuring a cohesive content strategy and consistent positioning across digital marketing and traditional media.
Oversees the development and production of all marketing, public relations and advertising products.
Ensures continuity within the units of Marketing and Communications, Strategic Initiatives, and Resource Development by developing media relations policies, defining collaborative work processes, initiating special publications, writing scripts and articles, and performing other related hands-on functions.
Model best practices on data collection and KPIs
Partner with the Resource Development team on development materials, tools, and other necessary collateral supporting major gifts, grants, campaigns, events, and other efforts.
Responsible for the strategic execution of UWNYCs Signature Events.
Develop a comprehensive, long-term and proactive organization-wide communications, marketing and branding strategy consistent with the strategic goals, plans, and aspirations of UWNYC.
Serve as a Brand Ambassador both internally and externally.
Partner with United Way Worldwide Brand Leadership.
Internal Management
Retain and develop a high-caliber staff to ensure the goals of the department are achieved in the most effective, strategic, and professional manner.
Assist with the development of rigorous objectives that drive toward greater brand awareness and engagement.
Cultivate a team culture of collaboration, open communication, and creative problem solving that promotes ownership of the brand and higher performance toward department goals.
Establish, communicate, and maintain departmental and organization wide policies and procedures related to maintaining and strengthening UWNYC’s brand.
Drive cohesion and interdepartmental collaboration with other internal teams to maximize impact.
Train and develop staff members as to industry best practices and improving campaign outcomes, and coach them in effective approaches to storytelling, brand stewardship, and project management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible positions in non-profit communications and marketing role
Strong executive presence
Experience in managing and mentoring a team of marketing and communication specialists
Innovative, creative and strong ability to execute new strategies to increase brand awareness
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated progressive relationship management
Excellent writing, editing, verbal, analytical and presentation proficiencies
Strong quantitative analysis skills; ability to target the right metrics and to clearly communicate complex data
Knowledge of CRM and tracking / tagging processes for clean data collection, performance reporting, and segmentation across media channels using industry and privacy best practices.
Knowledge of platforms or technology partners needed to unlock new growth, channels, and/or media efficiency.
Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results

142,341-165,000*
The final determination of salary, within this range, will depend on the candidate’s education, skills and experience required for the particular position.
