Senior Manager, Communications
to join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries.
Position Highlights:
The Senior Manager, Communications is responsible for developing and overseeing key communications initiatives, including the Annual Report, Speakers Bureau, and NSC.org web content. This role manages external communications, including media relations, speaker preparation, and resources, and partners with colleagues to support workplace and roadway safety and grant-funded programs. The Senior Manager plays a role in supporting high-impact campaigns, including National Safety Month and Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The Senior Manager supports internal communications efforts and implements best practices for employee engagement. The role leads cross-functional external communications efforts and supports internal communications campaigns and programs to align messaging and achieve results.
What You’ll Do:
Internal and External Messaging: Direct and manage the team in the delivery of Council messages, ensuring clarity, alignment with brand standards, and the preservation of the organization’s image.Content Strategy & Oversight: Lead the content strategy, overseeing the drafting, review, and editing processes to uphold high standards and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans that support the organization’s long-term goals, adjusting strategies to respond to emerging trends and stakeholder needs.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners, media, and internal leaders, to enhance collaboration and promote consistent messaging.Campaign & Program Support: Collaborate with NSC campaigns and initiatives, contributing expertise to Safety Leadership and Advocacy programs focused on workplace and roadway safety.Performance & Evaluation: Evaluate communication effectiveness by analyzing campaign performance and compiling data, providing regular reports, and identifying improvement opportunities.Leadership & Team Development: Foster team growth through active management and development, offering mentoring, feedback, and support to enhance team performance and morale.We’re Looking for Someone with:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.Minimum of six years of experience in communications, with at least two years in a management role.In lieu of education, at least ten years of progressive experience in communications or related fields.Demonstrated experience managing a communications team and a comprehensive understanding of external and internal communications.Strong background in non-profit, public sector, or similar organizations, with expertise in internal and external communications.Familiarity with campaign management, website content strategy, and policy-driven messaging.Team Leadership: Skilled at fostering teamwork, providing guidance, and managing performance.Strategic Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with persuasive communication abilities.Influence & Interpersonal Skills: Capable of building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.Experience with brand and style guides, and adherence to AP style.This is a remote position.Salary range: $90,000 to $95,000.Reasons You’ll Love it here:
