Summary:The Events Manager contributes to the success of delivering the Harbor View experience through the emphasis on short-term business, weddings, and revenue generating events to meet the financial and business objectives of the Harbor View Hotel. The success of this position is accomplished by developing a strategic and measurable plan to prospect for potential accounts in assigned market territories as well as maintaining existing relationships with an established client base and servicing their events. Excellence is achieved through the successful execution, operation, planning, strategy, sales and administration of client events, while delivering exceptional client satisfaction and exceeding revenue goals.Essential Job Functions and Primary Responsibilities:Maintains full-service event planning and finalizes small group contacts, estimate sheets, and diagrams with clients according to catering sales service standards.Provides total guest satisfaction for all local and group related functions by ensuring a consistent product to standards, while maximizing profitability and delivering an exceptional guest experience.Develops and/or maintains and improves business relations with all customers and clients as well as local business liaison duties.Prepares contracts and banquet event orders forming clear and detailed information after conclusion of interview and booking with client.Creates and leads BEO and Resume meetings and communicates all group needs prior to and during events.Maintains accurate and clean Delphi account database; inputs all opportunities into Delphi on a timely basis.Conducts site tours of the hotels and coordinates on-site client entertainment to showcase all hotel services and amenities.Demonstrates persuasive sales abilities in giving presentations to clients to effectively sell and represent hotel.Maintains proper documentation of all aspects of events, including change and special requests as well as financial details.Monitors events to ensure the group expectations are being exceeded or met as well as being certain to resolve any unexpected challenges that may arise.Works closely with Banquet team in preparing banquet and event rooms per Banquet Event Order and client specifications.Coordinates catering support services (flowers, entertainment, decoration, A/V, etc.).Owns quarterly/yearly performance goals with Regional Director of Sales.Acts as liaison between sales and Food and Beverage as well as other departments in the hotel being sure to effectively communicate all details of events.Assists with the development of sales promotions.Maximizes catering revenues through upselling techniques.Works varying schedules to reflect business needs of the hotel.Qualifications Required:Excellent people skills with a positive, outgoing personality.Ability to follow hotel standards policies and procedures.Ability to work productively with other associates as part of a team.Legal ability to work in the US.Ability to work a flexible workweek including nights, weekends and holidays.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across all levels in an organization.Execution and problem-solving skills under pressure.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.High level of initiative and detail oriented.Being passionate about the hotel and professionally representing our brand in the community.Qualifications Desired:Experience in hospitality or events industry in similar position.Graduate of a Hospitality or Tourism Management program.Knowledge of Delphi, Visual One and Social Tables.Experience in event planning and coordination.Background in hospitality, weddings, and/or sales.
