Lithia & Driveway | Staff Data Engineer

The Staff Data Engineer is responsible for leading the creation and delivery of high quality software within a team of cross-discipline engineers. The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for writing code, creating tests, mentoring engineers, and championing best practices in software development on their team. They are able to lead their teams to create high quality software and further grow their team’s agile development practices. Staff Software Engineers are role models to engineers within the larger organization, providing technical leadership that influences our practice of software development.

Location: Portland OR preferred; open to remote

Compensation: $90,000-200,000 annually

Typically, initial compensation falls in the mid-range and will be determined by factors including experience, skills, training, certifications, and education.

Responsibilities

Lead team planning and scoping of work as part of an agile software development team

Consistently deliver high quality code

Lead standard setting in code-review practices and collaborate with other engineers to drive business outcomes

Steer the creation of research spikes to explore new technologies and potential solutions for upcoming challenges

Maintain a strong internal network of engineers outside the core-team to integrate related components and play a significant role in developing organizational standards

Participate as part of a Tier-3 on-call rotation to support team-built software

Skills and Qualifications

6-8+ years delivering high-scale, high-performance web applications

Storied experience in platforms running with a leading cloud provider, preferably Azure

Mastery with container-driven development environments

Mastery working in our core family of technologies like Javascript (React), Typescript, Kotlin, Java, Springboot, Docker, Azure
