As a Software QE Manager within AIML, you will be part of a team creating new and innovative experiences for human interaction with generative AI. Your team will be testing prototype and production-level apps, frameworks, and daemons on Apple internal iOS platforms to build cutting-edge experiences. This position requires a talented Software QE Manager to realize that mission by expanding the capabilities of Apple products and platforms and helping to ensure our experiences are rock-solid and customer-focused. We work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment and you and your team will be part of every stage of development working cross-functionally with other QE, software, user interface designers, Project Management, and Machine Learning teams from concept phase to deployment. We are seeking a strong leader who can partner with senior leadership and other teams to drive experiences from product definition to release. The successful candidate will build and lead a highly talented, diverse QA & QE team of experienced and thoughtful engineers to enable industry-leading customer experiences.

DescriptionThis position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical, communication, people management, and project management skills. You’ll need to be self-directed, creative, and comfortable with change and ambiguity. Responsibilities include:Leading, mentoring, and hiring independent, highly effective quality engineersHelp deliver new experiences across Apple platforms that meet or exceed our high standards for qualityOverseeing development of comprehensive feature test plansWork creatively and efficiently to test complex experiences with significant iteration under complex and condensed schedulesAccurately scoping the effort and work items required to complete large feature projects and assisting direct reports in proper scoping and prioritization of testing deliverablesRepresenting the team in technical and project meetings while evangelizing our valuesPartnering with engineering managers to ensure features are designed for testabilityBalance carefully being in the details with smart delegation. Mentor your team and instill detail-oriented critical thinkingSpot problems before they occur and proactively engage your colleagues to solve them togetherDefend and empower your QE team, working to fix broken tools or processes and instilling a respectful, high-achieving team cultureMinimum RequirementsAt least 5 years of experience working in Software Quality Assurance, two of which are in a management roleTrack record demonstrating the ability to build and lead a diverse and strong team - hiring, mentoring, motivating, supporting and elevating the performance of a team, caring for and encouraging professional growth and development of their employeesPassion for and prior experience testing customer-focused user interfaces, starting from first principles and at the final stages obsessing over the detailsSuccessful track record of testing and shipping high-quality apps or frameworksSuperb analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to understand and break down large features into manageable piecesExcellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skillsSuperb interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligenceExcellent organization, prioritization, and strategic planning skills, ability to manage resources effectively, represent the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.Proficiency with iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS or similar operating systemsCuriosity about new technologies, flexibility, and openness to ambiguityBS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experiencePreferred QualificationsWhile the following skills aren’t required, knowledge of one or more of these areas would be valuable:Familiarity with AI principles and Foundation ModelsTrack record of working cross-functionally and building strong partnerships amongst teams and individualsExperience with Data Analysis and Visualization Tools such as TableauPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $173,100 and $301,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
