NIH/NINDS
Tenure Track Investigator, Neuroimmunology and Neurovirology
NIH/NINDS, Bethesda, Maryland, us, 20811
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is searching for an outstanding translational investigator for a Tenure Track Investigator position as part of the NINDS Intramural research program. NINDS is searching for a clinician-scientist with an innovative research track record in clinical/translational problems related to neuroimmunology and neurovirology.
The Division of Intramural Research at NINDS boasts strong clinical/translational programs in neuroimmunology, neurogenetics, surgical neurology, vascular neurology, and neuroimaging. There are also large and active communities in basic neuroscience, immunology, and virology in NINDS and the larger NIH Intramural Research Program, all of which can be leveraged to support the career of the successful applicant for this position.
In addition to performing clinical trials, the incumbent will be expected to develop and direct a lab-based research program that informs the clinical work. To accomplish this, they should have excellent skills in, and a track record of, structuring and communicating an independent, original, productive, and important research program. An M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, is required. NIH is committed to enhancing diversity at all levels, and a demonstrated commitment to increasing diversity in science is also important. Board specialty in neurology will be required.
The incumbent will have access to the NIH Clinical Center to perform proof-of-concept clinical trials and natural history studies, in addition to resources of the NINDS Clinical Neurosciences Program, which include a dedicated Clinical Trials Unit to support this work. Laboratory facilities, shared research facilities, research funds, and salary are competitive with premier academic institutions, and salary will be commensurate with experience. A full civil service benefits (including retirement, health, life and long-term care insurance, Thrift Savings Plan, etc.) package is available.
Applicants must submit their curriculum vitae (CV), including bibliography and description of research interests, and three references. Please include in your CV, or as a separate document, a description of mentoring and outreach activities, especially those involving women and other underrepresented groups in biomedical research. Applications will be accepted beginning October 28, 2024. Review of applications is expected to begin December 28, 2024, and will continue until a suitable candidate is hired. All materials should be sent to Rachael Schacherer, schachererr@nih.gov.
All employees are subject to a background investigation.
