The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Director will be responsible for the leadership of specific segments of the department ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations associated with Emergency Medical Services, Occupational Safety, Environmental, and Risk Management strategies. Will support all Ambassadors across all lines of business including all departments. In addition, the Director will provide support to overall EHS functions to ensure compliance with all company and legal guidelines and our ongoing commitment to provide the safest environment possible for Ambassadors, guests, contractors, and animals in our care.

What you get to do:

Maintain knowledge and understanding of OHSA regulations, ADA, NFPA codes, NEC, and ASTM/ANSI standards, along with local, State and Federal environmental regulations.

Implement and maintain a corporate safety standards, to include accident investigations, internal compliance standards, and industry best practices.

Read, interpret, and understand Florida & Federal code of regulations pertaining to hazardous materials management, water regulations, air pollution control regulations, and all other health and safety code requirements pertaining to these topics.

Lead team to ensure implementation of corporate safety compliance programs.

Monitor and assist with legal aspects of litigated general liability, work comp and property claims

Attend depositions, mediations, hearings and trials on behalf of SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, and Discovery Cove.

Review all general liability reports, maintain records and filing.

Review and research ride incidents through internal tracking database and serve as a member of the Park Ride Safety Committee.

Attend meetings, seminars and workshops related to Safety, Environmental and Risk Management

Represent the park for court related matters.

Confer with representatives of local government and industry colleagues to ensure cooperation and coordination of park activities with law enforcement agencies

Identify and monitor key results of park guests, personnel, property, and animal collection.

Work closely with Park Leadership, Corporate, and 3rd party contractors to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations, along with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment (SEA) standards and industry best practices

Prepare/ implement Department Budgets

What it takes to succeed:

7-10 years’ experience in managing a company or corporate Safety and Environmental compliance program.

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

Previous experience in a theme park or zoological setting strong preferred

Completion of OSHA 10 HR General Industry certification required. Disaster management, and Hazardous Materials course work preferred.

Supervisory experience of technical staff.

Must have experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Must have a valid driver’s license and meet SEA driving guideline

Must have excellent communication skills to work and be proficient in public speaking.

Must possess sound analytical and decision-making skills and be able to perform creative problem-solving.

Must thrive in a fast paced and ever evolving environment with the strong ability to shift priorities based on business need and level of urgency.

Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
