Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Senior Donor Organizer (SDO) will collaborate across our teams to conceptualize, plans and execute educational programming and events that engage, grow and nurture our network of diverse Donor Activists committed to transformative action through giving. This role will focus on creating and leading dynamic programming for Liberty Hill’s highly engaged donor community, including DAFs and Giving Circle members. Programming will focus on education and support donors in developing giving practices that are values-driven and aligned with the priorities and needs of grassroots social justice movements. They will lead and provide logistic and facilitation support for training and regularly communicate with donors to offer organizational updates and to maintain authentic connections. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to build trust, understanding, and supportive relationships with Liberty Hill grantees, donors and philanthropic partners.

This position is hybrid remote, in-person and requires participation in in-person events and mandatory co-working days.

What you will do:

Work in close coordination with Liberty Hill’s Advancement and Grantmaking teams to create public programming that advances our mission and generates excitement about grassroots movements in communities most affected by systemic oppression.

Share feedback and insights learned from donors with the relevant teams to help improve and inform future programing and support.

Support the design and facilitation process for workshops aligned with Liberty Hill’s mission around how to be a stronger ally through one’s giving, including social justice-oriented strategies for planning gifts and vehicles like donor-advised funds.

Conduct individual meetings with donors to learn more about their interests and capacities before matching them with the appropriate donor education and engagement opportunities.

Lead political education and collective learning spaces on subjects like grassroots organizing, race, class and racial capitalism.

Facilitate grassroots fundraising trainings and other skill-based workshops related to resource mobilization.

Provide individual and small group coaching on giving plans and resource mobilization for donors

Draft clear and engaging content about Liberty Hill’s donor education and training programs for newsletters and website updates; keep Donor Activists informed and connected to new engagement opportunities.

Cultivate new relationships and networks to grow the donor community while also sustaining the support and engagement of long-term supporters to broaden awareness and deepen the impact of the Foundation’s programmatic work.

Work with the grants management team to prepare grant recipient profiles, grant dockets, award letters, written summaries, analysis documents, and financial reports to aid staff and donors in evaluating and making grants to Liberty Hill and our partners.

Design and execute evaluation and monitoring processes, including conducting assessments, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results and identifying and discussing implications about our donor engagement strategies.

Identify, research, and qualify a portfolio of prospective donors and grow a portfolio of $5,000+ donors from new donors and increase giving from existing donors; growing their portfolio to $1M+.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred with strong emphasis on personal lived/professional experience.

8+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a not-for-profit setting leading donor relationships.

Demonstrated leadership ability supervising diverse team members.

Knowledge of and commitment to grassroots organizing led by communities of color.

Highly organized, with strong project management skills and attention to detail.

Strong facilitation skills, experience working with groups and designing agendas and curriculum for group processes.

Ability to quickly connect, build trust and develop authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Flexible, creative, and open to experimenting with new ideas.

Fluency with related concepts around race, class, and racial capitalism.

Willingness to engage in ongoing political education and skill development.

Embodiment of trust-based values and commitment to addressing and redistributing power in philanthropy.

A demonstrated understanding of the philanthropic ecosystem and current trends.

Evidenced commitment to an interdepartmental, interdisciplinary team approach to work; strong collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

Proven ability to interact well with all levels of an organization and to maintain timely, constructive communications.

Proficiency in: Intermediate Excel, Office 365, Slack, Asana or other project management applications.

Commitment to social and racial justice, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Personal lived experience that relates to the role and the mission of Liberty Hill (preferred).
