The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store.At Target, we believe in our leaders having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of a General Merchandise Team Leader can provide you with the skills and experience of:Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first culture on your teamRetail business fundamentals including: department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategiesPlanning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goalsProcess improvements and workload efficiencyHelping build a team of hourly team membersAs a General Merchandise Team Leader, typical responsibilities include:Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals.Help lead the understanding of how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, and inventory accuracy.Help empower the team to create a consistent experience for our guests.Responsible for working with Closing teams to identify key priorities and ensure the store is guest ready.Create a scheduling plan approved by your ETL based off of monthly and weekly business workload.Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.Help establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs.Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices.Support guest services such as back-up cashier, digital fulfillment processes.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWe might be a great match if:Working in a fun and energetic environment excites you.Providing service to our guests that makes them say I LOVE TARGET! excites you.Leading teams who are stocking, setting and selling Target products sounds like your thing.You aren’t looking for a Monday - Friday job where you are at a computer all day.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Age 18 or older.Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.Ability to lead and hold others accountable.Capability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.Welcoming and helpful attitude.Effective communication skills.We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.Interpret instructions, reports and information.Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.Climb up and down ladders as needed.Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely.Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary.Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.Target will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the San Francisco and City of Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinances.Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Target will provide reasonable accommodations with the application process upon your request as required to comply with applicable laws.About Us
