We are looking for our next teammate who will raise our bar and make us better.We are currently working on Project ETHOS, a new free-to-play, 3rd person rogue-like hero shooter and an exciting evolution on the genre!What we need:We’re looking for a Writer (12 month contract) to join our team and help us shape the future of storytelling in online multiplayer gaming. As a Writer, you’ll envision and bring vibrant and diverse characters to life and tell engaging and thrilling stories. You’ll drive and develop the game’s world, story and characters, working closely with the design, art, and sound teams to realize your vision. We’re a studio that values autonomy and self-drive in developers who are empowered to do the best work of their careers. If this is you, let’s talk!Responsibilities:Work with a team of other writers and narrative designers to develop and execute the game’s vision.Contribute to the further development of existing characters and storylines by writing and iterating on compelling, character-building dialogue.Write descriptions of the world, factions, characters, and history to serve as a resource for the game’s overall development.Collaborate deeply with other disciplines and serve as a resource for other team members, inspiring and providing context to the content they are creating.Conduct research and documentation, perform necessary editing tasks, provide feedback on works in progress through daily playtesting, and engage in hands-on engine work to bring ideas to life.Required Qualifications:3+ years of professional writing experience, and at least 1 shipped title in a narrative or systems design role, preferably in the multiplayer/action space.Experienced in crafting dialogue, barks, characters, and storylines for games, with proficiency in modern game engines such as Unreal and Unity.Familiar with the unique challenges of design and storytelling in games, with a knack for developing creative solutions to enhance the development process.Skilled in rapid iteration and collaboration based on feedback, especially when under tight deadlines and production constraints.Strong passion for storytelling in games and an understanding of how to create representative and authentic characters by leveraging knowledge of today's pop culture and entertainment landscape.Relevant experience:Familiarity working in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and in-engine experience is a plus!A passion for diversity & representation in games & game development.A self-starter who can align with the team's goals but isn't hesitant to create solutions on their own.The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,766 and $83,200 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
