Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty - Child Development
Kennedy King College is currently seeking a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty for Child Development Studies. If you have a passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, be able to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multicultural, collaborative environment, provide students with high-quality instruction to develop the skills to thrive in a growing early childhood education profession, utilize the best practices in education, and regularly incorporate them into instruction.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare instructional materials for Early Childhood Education students and professionals.Develop a course syllabus and utilize student-learning outcomes to guide course instruction.Record and submit grades electronically using the college’s database.Navigate and make use of a Learning Management System (LMS) to support classroom instruction.Complete office hours to guide and offer instructional support to ECE students.Administer programmatic evaluations.Assess student learning and utilize data to make instructional decisions.Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.Be responsible for instruction in a college environment, specifically within a program with a specialized accreditation.Syllabi construction (from a master syllabus template).Develop authentic hands-on learning opportunities for students.QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Teaching, Education, or a degree in a related field.Illinois PEL License (preferred but not required).Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessments and the role they play in the teaching and learning environment.Time Management and Task Management Skills.Prior teaching experience in ECE.Experience in a higher education environment, teaching adult learners.Familiarity with NAEYC Accreditation Standards.Familiarity with Illinois Gateways.Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem-solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.Knowledge of instructional technology such as Brightspace or other learning management platforms preferred.All interested candidates, including current CCC employees, must submit the following documents for review:A letter of interest.Resume or curriculum vitae.A statement of your teaching philosophy.A legible copy of your college transcripts (unofficial transcripts initially accepted, official transcripts must be provided at the time of interview).Two letters of recommendation.This position is represented by Local 1600.Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Thank you for your interest in City Colleges of Chicago!
