We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on xenon-based dark matter search and R&D activities. You will lead detector R&D activities using a liquid xenon time projection chamber at LLNL and search for dark matter interactions using data from the LUX-ZEPLIN experiment. This position is in the Rare Event Detection group of the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division.In this role you will:Operate a dual-phase liquid xenon detector and upgrade the data acquisition system.Measure neutron-xenon interactions and perform data analysis.Participate in the LUX-ZEPLIN experiment, including detector operation and data analysis.Develop and test new concepts to improve the sensitivity of dark matter searchesPublish results in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences, seminars, and/or technical meetings.Collaborate within multi-institution and multi-disciplinary teams.Perform independent research and develop solutions to challenging technical problems.Perform other duties as assigned.PhD in experimental particle physics, high-energy physics, or related field.Experience in constructing and operating particle physics experiments.Knowledge of data acquisition systems.Experience with data analysis and simulations using ROOT and Geant4 packages.Experience with C++ and Python programming languages.Ability to work independently on technical hardware and software tasks, provide in-depth analyses, and develop technical solutions.Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse set of scientists, engineers, students, and technical and administrative staff.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills necessary to deliver presentations and prepare written reports.Qualifications we desire:Experience with high channel count data acquisition systems.Knowledge of machine learning techniques.
