Position OverviewInternational's Operational Safety and Security (OSS) team is responsible for the safety and security aspects of electronic control units (ECU) equipping International vehicle products. This includes applying known and emerging functional safety, cybersecurity, and verification standards. The OSS team is involved in the entire product lifecycle of conventional truck systems with a special focus on supporting emerging technology development in Autonomous and Electric Vehicle (e-mobility) technologies.This position has direct focus and responsibility for 1) leading, supporting, and developing the overall cybersecurity architecture technical content for products, and 2) ensuring that processes and deliverables are executed according to the Security Plan during the product development cycle for each product. This position will work closely with the systems, electrical/electronic, mechatronic, software, and supplier engineering teams during the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities• Provide technical leadership on product security design matters for the overall product portfolio, including on how they can impact safety matters.• Lead cybersecurity architecture and specification development across the product portfolio.• Support development teams by providing security process-specific knowledge for internal and external development projects.• Contribute to analysis and specification of system security concepts and requirements.• Create, contribute to, and/or facilitate as necessary the development and verification of the security plan, threat and risk analyses, and functional and technical security concepts and requirements.• Review supplier security process deliverables and guide suppliers on security processes and requirements as needed.• Ensure that Safety/Security-related Work Products satisfy ASIL/CAL requirements for verification reviews and conformance assessments.• Support verification reviews of security-related work products in conformance with CAL requirements.• Recommend escalation of unresolved security-related issues to responsible staff members and confirm issue resolution.• Interface with corporate and industry experts to stay current in security processes, methods, and tools.• Document security best practices implemented by the product team for reuse by other product teams.• Participate in supplier assessments regarding security process capability and performance.• Actively participate in security-related process development and decision bodies if needed.• Support security-related verification and validation activities to ensure products meet defined security requirements.• Work in a team and contribute to continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects and process improvements.• Support solving problems and implementing solutions with development teams.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with at least 8 years of experience in product design/development, including 1 year leading others in engineering/design activities.OR Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with at least 6 years of experience in product design/development, including 1 year leading others in engineering/design activities.OR PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology with at least 3 years of experience in product design/development, including 1 year leading others in engineering/design activities.
Additional RequirementsQualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills• Experience with ISO 26262 safety and ISO/SAE 21434 security product lifecycles, including supplier safety/security case management.• In-depth knowledge of electronic hardware and software systems required for the design of a safety/security-critical ECU.• Experience in functional areas, such as Cybersecurity, Electric Vehicle Electronics, Autonomous Electronics, Functional Safety, and Vehicle Communications and Network.• Experience developing in safety/security critical regulated industries (aerospace, medical, automotive).• Demonstrable working knowledge of safety/security development processes needed to meet the requirements of the ISO 26262 & ISO/SAE 21434 standards or adjacent market standards.
