Economist II, AWS Central Economics and Science
Job ID: 2743429 | Amazon Web Services, Inc.Our team develops econometric models working closely with business, finance, and operations leaders, influencing strategic and tactical decisions across Amazon Web Services (AWS). The problem space for this role includes developing a deeper understanding of how AWS customers use AWS services and how different sales roles, programs, go-to-market motions, and partners help customers access those services. The candidate will also leverage insights to develop a larger structural understanding of the cloud computing business and be curious and excited to apply these in challenging real-world settings.
Key job responsibilitiesThe key job responsibilities of this role include:* Designing observational studies founded on the relevant business decision and available data.* Proposing operational decisions to improve internal validity.* Working with business and science to connect the science to a deeper understanding of the business.* Proposing and developing new data collection mechanisms to improve future studies.* Identifying new research areas and opportunities for economics and science to increase AWS revenue and improve AWS operations and decision-making.
A day in the lifeOur team takes big swings and works on hard cross organizational problems where the optimal success rate is not 100%. It makes for bigger impact, faster skill accrual and thus career advancement.
