About the role:
The Sr. HEMA Manager will lead the development and implementation of health policy and reimbursement initiatives in support of Boston Scientific’s Interventional Cardiology Business Unit. This role involves cross-functional and global collaboration to ensure appropriate reimbursement for existing and emerging technologies. The individual will be responsible for providing strategic input to product development teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the development and implementation of market access and reimbursement strategies for the assigned product portfolio, in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues.
Lead execution of market access and reimbursement strategies in the US and support implementation in global markets.
Identify and influence health policy developments that impact reimbursement of BSC products and educate key stakeholders.
Lead reimbursement initiatives required to achieve health economics and market access strategic objectives (e.g. coding applications, clinical trial reimbursement, data analytics).
Serve as primary HEMA representative for cross-functional teams. Guide the development and communication of economic value messages to support product adoption.
Identify evidence development needs and ensure data-driven support for HEMA initiatives, through collaboration with HEMA Analysts and HEOR team (e.g. market assessments, forecasting, pricing strategies and RWE analyses)
Oversee development of comprehensive reimbursement, economic and health policy resources for Field HEMA team to ensure ongoing support for sales and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites).
Engage with physician and administrative customers at on-site Boston Scientific events (e.g. Advisory Board) and in the field, including at Scientific Symposia.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
7+ years of experience in the medical industry, including experience supporting reimbursement strategies for a medical device manufacturer
Strong understanding of US health care policy and payment systems, including hospital and physician reimbursement
Experience with health policy development and Federal rule making processes (e.g. CMS)
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at the C-suite level
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
Domestic travel estimated at 25%, including overnight travel
Preferred qualifications
Advanced degree such as an MS, MPH, MBA, MPH, MHA in health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research, or similar discipline
Interventional Cardiology industry experience
Strong understanding of CMS payment systems, including hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient, ASC and physician fee schedule
Expertise in global market access requirements
Experience with new technology reimbursement pathways, particularly for medical devices
