We’re looking for a

Senior Software Engineer

who is deeply passionate about their craft and is eager to leverage their skills to make a positive impact in the world. What you’ll do:

Design and implement scalable, reliable systems

that are critical to BetterUp’s platform, ensuring they are flexible and adaptable for future growth.

Partner with product teams

to align engineering solutions with business goals, optimizing for both innovation and stability.

Mentor and support junior engineers,

promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and best practices.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams

to deliver high-quality products in an agile environment, driving technical excellence across the team.

Apply customer empathy

in technical decisions to ensure the best possible user experience.

Balance project leadership with hands-on coding,

actively contributing to the codebase while providing technical guidance and leadership.

Lead complex projects and initiatives , involving multiple developers and cross-functional requirements, defining and solving strategic problems while thinking holistically about the system.

Craft maintainable, secure, and high-quality code , setting the standard for best practices across the team.

Empower others

by building systems and processes that enable data-driven decision-making, leaving behind documentation and resources that streamline onboarding and complex system comprehension.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

Alignment with BetterUp's mission of enabling self-driven behavior change

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, JavaScript frameworks, and cloud platforms like AWS.

A high degree of initiative and ownership, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to change.

Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional team and with people at all levels in an organization.

Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.

Experience building and supporting production-grade consumer applications with a modern web technology stack.

Experienced in Agile product development processes (SCRUM, Kanban, Lean Startup, etc.).

Experience building and scaling complex systems, with a focus on user experience and performance.

Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering growth and development within the team.

A passion for continuous learning, customer empathy, and a desire to innovate within a fast-paced environment.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $148,784 – $223,150.
